Introducing LamaLoLi – Perfect for your little superheroes

If you have a child under the age of 10, the chances are they are in the middle of some sort of obsession. This could be with Disney Cars, Monster High, Spiderman, Barbie, Skylanders – the list is positively endless. For my little boy, the obsession is Angry Birds, or, to be more specific, Star Wars Angry Birds. He seems to live, sleep and dream about them. Which is why I was so happy about an introduction to LamaLoLi.

LamaLoLi is an online shop selling branded fashion children’s hero products. Mainly concerned with t-shirts, sweatshirts, underwear and pyjama’s, the store also stocks some great winter coats and anoraks, along with rucksacks that will be perfect for the return to school that is now just a week away.

The range is very expansive, and the prices are very reasonable, so that sometimes makes me question the actual quality. So when LamaLoLi asked if they could send me some pieces from the range for Joe to test run, I was very happy to give these products a try. Joe is a very active 5-year-old, who is frankly never clean, so if anyone could put these clothes through their paces – it would be Joe.

I allowed Joe to choose for himself, and he went for the two pack of Angry Birds t-shirts. Joe is almost 6, but is small in body, so can often fit into size 4-5. These t-shirts only start at age 6, so we knew they could be a little on the large size for Joe.

Joe really loved the t-shirts straight away, and I was pleased that the sizing was pretty good – they were a little baggy, but not so Joe couldn’t wear them. The colours were bright and vibrant, and the images were really high catching. The cotton feels of a decent quality too – not overly thin.

DSCN8652As you can see, Joe gave the t-shirt a real work out, and by the end of the day it was pretty dirty. I can safely say that it washes really well. There was no colour transference and the t-shirt came out really soft and unbobbled.

Made in Italy – Sister & Sister

The latest in my series of birthday week reviews brings something a little bit topical on the day that England take on Italy in the World Cup. As you can imagine, with a name like Iannarilli I am torn in my support, cheering England all the way, but also hoping Italy get through too, as I have a partial Italian family and just love the Country. I also love the style and design that comes from Italy and so am very happy to introduce Sister & Sister.

Sister & Sister are Simona Guarducci and Rosy Gadda Conti. The idea behind the brand is that ‘dreams do leave a mark…and they can leave it directly on fabric.’ Rosy is a super talented illustrator who creates beautiful and whimsical illustrations and designs, featuring animals, flowers and the stuff of dreams. These designs have been transferred into t-shirts and tops that are fun, unique and striking in their originality.  The brand has partnered with small artisans to give the products the stamp of quality and attention to detail. This has led to a collection that is truly eye-catching and unusual.

IMG_1953-e1398276484303I opted to review the beautiful poppy print top that was described as ‘blush fields on the cheeks of spring’. (How pretty is that). I have to say this is a truly lovely top. The cotton is quite delicate rather than thick, but stretches well and adds to the general romantic feel of the top. The floral print is vibrant, almost like a watercolour painting, and is further enhanced by the black tiny beads that are central to the flowers. I loved the gently scooped neckline, which is much more flattering than a normal round neck design, and the sleeves are not tight, but fit the arms comfortably.

DSCN7690[1]I chose to style my t-shirt in an ultra feminine way, with a pleated chiffonskirt from Very and pink and turquoise shoes from Kurt Geiger. But this top would also look fabulous with cut-off jeans and a kimono jacket for a summer festival, or with jeans and a blazer for drinks at a bar. It is versatile, and the lovely soft cotton means it is a great option for warm days.

Create your perfect t-shirt with Spreadshirt

Last week I had the pleasure of being introduced to a fabulous website which allows you to create a totally unique t-shirt, hooded sweatshirt, bag, even an apron or coffee mug. Spreadshirt is a very special site that gives you the opportunity to flex those creative muscles in order to create a personalised, self designed item, either for yourself, or as a gift for others. Easy to use, and with very quick delivery, Spreadshirt could be the answer to any tricky gift dilemmas that you have.

The concept is simple and is also very adaptable. Using the ‘create’ tab, you choose an option, either from the person list (For Him, For Her, For Kids etc), or you can choose from the items list, with everything from baby clothes to accessories available. Once you have chosen your item you can literally tailor make every aspect of it, from colour, sleeve length, addition of text, and image. There are literally thousands of different images from numerous different categories, just using the description soft kitty t-shirt brings up 30 different images you could use.

I totally love this one – I can think of so many friends who would love this…

What I really like about this site is that you can also upload your own images. I think this would be perfect if you were designing something for a stag or hen weekend, you could maybe upload a baby photograph of the bride or groom. Similarly, if your child has a favourite photograph, you could create a very personal gift, especially for them.

Spreadshirt is so easy to use that I worked with my five year old, who happens to be boat crazy, to create his perfect hooded sweatshirt. We chose colour and design, and he is now really excited about ‘his’ top arriving. This is something we could not buy in any shop, and that is what makes Spreadshirt a site most worthy of bookmarking.
