Ted Baker Accessories at Mainline Menswear

I’m continuing with my look at great gift ideas for Valentine’s Day with a focus on some great Ted Baker accessories from Mainline Menswear.

Mainline, which has been featured on the blog before, is a great port of call for designer menswear and accessories including ranges from Ralph Lauren, Paul Smith, Barbour and Hugo Boss. Ted Baker accessories are impeccably stylish and are also beautifully presented, which makes them a great gift idea. They work particularly well if you are buying a gift for a gent for the first time – you may not know their taste in shirts or tops, but you can’t really go wrong with a wallet, or a washbag or a belt.

I was sent a beautiful two piece wallet set from Ted Baker. Containing a black leather wallet and a separate card holder, the set comes beautifully gift boxed in an embossed box which is nice enough to not need any additional wrapping. The wallet and card holder is soft leather, with the wallet having space for six cards, as well as a section for notes.  The additional card holder has a further three card sections on the front, another on the back, and will actually fit snuggly into the wallet.

The wallet and card are real classic pieces that would work for any discerning gentlemen, regardless of taste. The classic black colour works well with smart clothing, a briefcase, or jeans and a polo top, with the size of the wallet making it suitable if your other half just likes to carry it in a pocket. It is the sort of leather that will only look better as it ages, a timeless piece that should last for years.

A Valentine’s gift idea from Snapfish

With Valentine’s Day creeping up on us (I know, who stole the year so far), it is that time when we start to think about beautiful gift ideas for our loved ones. For me, the gift should be special and have meaning, whether this be a favourite perfume or aftershave, stunning flowers or something personalised. And that is why I always turn to Snapfish for a gift that will revoke memories and delight the person receiving it.

Snapfish offers great value, personalised photographic gifts that are perfect for all special occasions (Mother’s Day and Easter are also early this year, and Snapfish have gifts suitable for both these occasions.). The gift range includes mugs, canvas prints, keyrings and photo books of all sizes. I have been with my better half Peter for a long time now (22 years in fact), so we have enjoyed lots of amazing times together and have accumulated thousands of photographs, so I thought it would be nice to put them into some sort of photo book.

The Snapfish photo books come in varieties that range from small ‘brag books’ with Soft covers, to hard back books that can be personalised with your own photographic cover. You can also choose your layout, with two, three or four photographs on each page, and can add your own text. The amount of pages you need is also up to you, there is an offer at the moment for free extra pages that you can take advantage of.

Pages can also be personalised with a background pattern or print, I chose the vintage backdrop for my photographs but there are many more to choose from. In addition, it is easy to upload photographs from your own albums on your laptop, or from your Facebook albums. Once they are uploaded, you have the option to auto-fill the book, which again makes it very easy to create a book even if you are a bit of a Snapfish novice.

I went for the red Linen Cover as it reminded me a little of This is Your Life (with me) and decided not to add text – I wanted the pictures to speak for themselves, but this is a personal choice and you can add exactly what you want to each page.

There is still time to get your Valentine’s gift from Snapfish if you order today (9th February), then it will be here in time for the big day.

Reviewed – Workforce Socks

Whilst I enjoy the glamorous world of fashion, my other (and many would say better) half works in the much more down to earth profession of loft conversions. So when I was asked if he would be interested in reviewing some very special socks that made the claim to be the ultimate safety sock, I answered in the affirmative very quickly on his behalf. The socks in question were by Workforce, and they seemed the perfect sock to be worn for work, particularly during what was a particularly bad time weather wise.

Workforce create professional workwear. Their WFHP socks claim to be the ultimate safety sock that are able to be hard-wearing and comfortable, but also able to deal with one of the problems for active workmen, hot and sweaty feet. Special ventilation panels were there to aid moisture management, keeping the feet cool and moisture free. This, in turn, helps to keep the feet healthy due to Silverplus antibacterial treatment.

The socks, quite frankly, sounded too good to be true, and with a celebrity endorsement from Ground Force star Tommy Walsh, I was eager for my husband to try them out. And then the snow came down, and boy, did these socks get a real test drive. Sub zero temperatures, treachorous working conditions and lots of the white stuff!

And what was the verdict. Absolutely 10 out of 10. No question. The first thing Hubby commented on was the fact that these socks actually have left and right fittings in the same way shoes do. This means extra comfort – more room for the big toe, snugger around the smaller toes. The Left and Right is actually on the toe part of the sock, ensuring you put them on the right foot.

Comfortwise, these socks are very comfortable. And although they establish that these socks will keep the foot from excessive moisture and sweating, in the icy conditions they also kept the foot warm and snug for the whole of a bitterly cold ten-hour day that had started at 6am. In addition, the socks are sturdy enough to offer real support for the ankle area and the arch of the foot, a really good selling point when the foot is going to be subjected to long hours in steel toe cap boots.

You can purchase Workforce socks from the SockShop, where, as well as gents work socks, there are also socks suitable for hiking and walking, and also ladies socks available too. Visit SockShop here.
