Take your festival inspiration from Next…and Kate Middleton
Festival season in the UK starts today in typically British style, wet and windy. We can look at all those wonderful Coachella posts where the stars look fabulous in their sundresses, hot pants and flip-flops, but the reality is, we should be looking a little bit closer to home for our festival inspiration.
Last weekend Kate Middleton wore what I think is actually the perfect British festival outfit. Taking some time under canvas, she opted for wellies, a Burberry shirt, teamed with Zara Jeans and a v neck sweater. She then wore a leather waistcoat that had a slight bodywarmer style that provided an extra layer of warmth. This looked great, but more importantly, kept the ever sensible Duchess warm and snug under layers that added warmth, but not bulk.
You can create your own Middleton festival look with Next. They have a great range of festival favourites, from cute wellies to chunky knits. And, as usual, you get the Next quality and value.
I love this Dip hem shirt, combined with Skinny jeans. To get the Kate look, simply tuck the shirt in so that you can add a neat sweater over the top.
To tie in with the glorious emerald-green shade of the shirt, I would layer by adding this cotton v neck cardigan which is a real bargain for just £16! Cardigans are sometimes preferable to sweaters as you can remove them if the weather improves without wrecking your hair!
Kate added a luxurious leather waistcoat to her layered look, but this is not so practical in the rain, and leather isn’t the cosiest of fabrics. So I would add a wadded gilet from Next in the same fab green shade to keep the look uniform. This also has a very practical hood for the worst of those showers.
Now, Kate’s wellies reportedly cost over £300, but you can get a comfy and cosy alternative from Next for a tenth of the price. The black fleece sock wellies will ensure your feet stay dry on even the muddiest of fields, and they will look great with skinnies.
Kate didn’t carry a bag, but for all your festival essentials I would add this Made with Love Duffle – How gorgeous is this!!
