Take Your Summer Dress Into Autumn With Femme Luxe

Today is the last day of Summer. Tomorrow will be September, and all our thoughts start to turn to Autumn. One of the things I most hate about the end of Summer is the end of Summer dressing, having to put away the sundresses that I have lived in since at least May, and the turning back towards jeans, boots and other sensible options as the weather turns cooler. But there’s always a chance we might get an Indian Summer, and even if the days do turn cooler, there is a way that we can extend the life of our Summer frocks simply by adding a smart, tailored jacket or blazer to add that extra layer. Fashion brand Femme Luxe, a favourite of this blog, are showing us the way how.

Femme Luxe has been the place to go to this Summer when it has come to denim shorts and white midi dresses, but as the season ends, they are showing they are also great at transitional pieces. A case in point is the ultra stylish Eilidh oversized long line blazer in a gorgeous neutral stone shade that would be an absolute workhorse piece in your transitional wardrobe.

Why do I love this jacket so much…let me count the ways!

First, there’s the colour. Neutral shades go with everything in your wardrobe. From pastels to primary shades, from monochrome to pretty much every sort of pattern, a neutral jacket will work. Add in the fact that this one is in a stone shade that would work brilliantly with animal print (are we classing that as another neutral now…I think yes.) and you have a piece that will be worn and worn. I’ve teamed the jacket with one of my Summer dresses in a gorgeous emerald green shade and I think it just works in slightly toning down the look whilst allowing the dress to be the focal point. It would work equally well with red, or a royal blue for that matter.

I love the length!

This is a longer line jacket which actually makes it really versatile. I’m wearing it over a dress, giving my Summer dress a new lease of life, but that length would make it brilliant over skinny jeans, or worn over leggings. This could be the perfect cover up on date night over the classic little black dress. For a smarter, tailored look, you could wear this over a classic white shirt and black peg trousers, for a look that would definitely work as workwear, but over a simple white tee, and dark indigo denim, you get a slightly sloany city girl look or you can make the look more edgy with a pair of ripped jeans for women. When you buy new clothes, you should definitely look at all the ways you can wear them so that they truly work with what you already have in your wardrobe. This jacket ticks all the boxes.

Lightweight makes it perfect for Autumn.

This is a gorgeous jacket that is unlined, so it has a lightweight feel that makes it perfect for those slightly cooler Autumn days. It is 100% polyester, and is machine washable too, which makes it practical. It is also generous in terms of size. I am wearing the size 14 which is the largest size it comes in (sizes 6-14). I usually wear a size 16 in jackets, but as this is a buttonless casual design, I can get away with the smaller size – it’s just a matter of personal taste.

This is a great blazer that you will be able to wear and wear, it will just look great with so many things. Highly recommended.
