The Autumn collections are coming thick and fast, and this Saturday I’ve decided to turn my attention to the fabulous new collection from one of my favourite High Street brands, Phase Eight.
Phase Eight can always be relied on for bringing class and elegance to the table. They understand the need for dresses with sleeves, always have lengths which are not thigh revealing, and have designs that step some distance away from what the rest of the High Street is reveling in. They also take cues from the decades of fashion that I love, the bias cut evening dresses from the 1930s in their Collection 8 range, and the full skirt and more fitted styles of the 1950s in their mainline collections.
This season, I think there is a definite emphasis on the romantic, the ladylike and the classic look. I love the combination of soft pink and even softer greys that have a key role in wardrobe looks, whilst I am also spying an Alexa Chung influence in the Peter Pan collars, long sleeves and 1960s style shift shapes. There are also some great dresses that would be perfect for smart workwear, but, as ever with Phase Eight designs, could easily be dressed up to take you for a meal, the theatre or apres work drinks, making them versatile buys that will work well with the rest of your wardrobe.
I make no excuses for saying I love this range, you pay a little extra for Phase Eight but the dresses/clothes really do last forever, they are so far from fast, throwaway fashion. What are your thoughts?
