The last days of Summer with High Street Outlet
The latest in my review series for the brilliant High Street Outlet is a dress from the Cornish Brand Seasalt. The Seasalt Gylly dress is lovely, a navy and white cotton dress with a fit and flare style. Ostensibly a summer dress, I think this would be lovely with a chunky white knit added to it, either in the form of a jumper, or a cosy cardigan.
The Gylly is a semi fitted dress in quite a stiff form of cotton. This gives it a wonderful 1950s shape – ultra feminine, and one you could easily add a net underskirt under if you wanted to go for the retro look. The print, like many Seasalt pieces, has a nautical feel with white anchors all over it. Combined with a knee length, high back and fitted waistband, this is a dress that is flattering and a little more covered up than the average sun dress.
This is a dress that is easy to style. Red, white, black and tan all look great against the blue, which is almost a denim colour. A denim jacket would be a great cover up for a casual look, but strappy sandals and a cropped cardigan would be another way to style this more formally. I will definitely be wearing it as a skirt, with chunky tights and a jumper, when the weather turns cool, but this is a good dress to be wearing right now, as the days can move from chilly to warm very quickly. (I roasted at the weekend when I put a Barbour style jacket on and it turned very warm.)
High Street Outlet is a fantastic destination that sells High Street surplus for up to 70% off the RRP. At the moment, it has a range of dresses that are perfect if you are heading on holiday in the next couple of months, looking for some Winter sun, or if you are merely looking ahead to next year and grabbing a bargain when you can. Go and take a look, you will be amazed at the prices.
