The Flower Effect
I have fallen more than a little in love with a sweet film I first saw on You Tube. ‘The Flower Effect’ has been produced by an initiative of The Flower Council of Holland, Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk , and is designed to show that flowers can bring happiness and joy to even the most miserable of days. It features a beautiful young girl called Sophie, who finds a beautiful bouquet left beside her on a park bench. She thinks the flowers may be from Paul, the man she loves. Unfortunately, this proves to not be the case and a forlorn Sophie is left to walk the streets with her flowers. However, the…

Harvey Nichols A/W fashion Show
Even by the incredibly high standards their previous shows have set, the latest Harvey Nichols Birmingham Autumn/Winter fashion show was pretty impressive. Set in the grey concrete confines of the Mailbox underground car park, the show was vibrant, glossy and full of High Octane glamour. In recent years the Birmingham shows have transformed themselves from merely being a regional showcase, turning into a calender date that just can’t be missed. This year, the fashion parade was like a who’s who of the current fashion world, with designs by Peter Pilotto, Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane, Thakoon and Lanvin, amongst many more, gracing the catwalk. The show’s venue reflected well against the…

Lilly and Sid – fabulous clothes for cool kids
I’ve recently been introduced to a fabulous children’s brand that I want to share with you. Lilly and Sid create beautiful, quality clothing for babies and children up to the age of 7-8 years, and are currently stocked in High End stores like Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser and Harrods. Lilly and Sid sent me a lovely top for Joe to review. Now, Joe, like most 5 year olds, makes his clothes work very hard. He is constantly playing football, climbing up frames on the park, and literally doing things that leave him looking like a scruffy urchin. Joe’s clothes need to be good quality, and long-lasting. But he also…

The Laura Bailey Edit for Wallis
In my list of style crushes, Laura Bailey comes pretty close to the top. The English model and writer is typical of the stylish, yet quirky women that this Island seems to produce. I love to watch her at fashion week, you know that she won’t be typically dressed, but will add something unique into the mix, making the look her own. Yet she can also wear incredibly beautiful pieces that will have you nodding at her awesome choices. She is, in my eyes, pretty near perfect. Laura Bailey favourite looks I think it is fitting that Laura has collaborated with high street fave Wallis to put together an edit…

Take a walk to school this month
Up until quite recently, my morning mommy routine was a bit of a nightmare, one that left me feeling stressed out before the day had chance to begin. It began with the alarm going off, and me banging the button in order to snooze for five (or ten) minutes. Then there would be the frantic rush around the house, looking for uniforms, doing breakfast and trying to get Joe’s hair into an acceptable state, all before leaving for school. We live almost 2 miles from our school, so the car is a must, but as I don’t drive my father-in-law comes to take us in the mornings. We always struggled…
