Even amongst the glitz and glitter of the Cannes Film festival, the AmFar gala is very special, the most glamorous occasion of them all. The annual gala that is held by the Foundation for Aids Research has become a part of the Cannes Calendar, and, for fans of gorgeous frocks being worn by the cream of Hollywood and the world’s top models, this is total candy for the eyes.
This year all eyes were on Katy Perry. Now, I am not a fan of Katy’s style in general, can never understand how a woman so pretty can get it so wrong on so many occasions. But in a dramatic red gown from Marchesa, she looked like a Spanish dream. Yes it was a little flamenco, but the fabric and cut were stunning on Katy, and with flawless hair and make-up I was totally swept away by the sheer beauty of the whole look.
In other fashion news, there seemed to be a mass tribute for Angelina’s leg, with Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss and Heidi Klum all showing off one perfect pin. For me, this was one of Heidi’s best looks in ages, the lemon shade was beautiful, and as for those jewels (Harry Winston I believe), who couldn’t be blown away with the whole ensemble.
Other favourites included Rosie Huntington Whiteley, who is fast becoming one of the best dressed ladies on the carpet. Yes, she has hit the genetic jackpot, but her choices are stylish and elegant and allow her to stand out on any red carpet. I’m also loving Kirsten Dunst, who seems to be morphing more and more into an iconic 40s film star. I love her blonde waves, exquisite suit, and those glorious shoes.
Who’s style do you admire from the AmFar Gala? Do you have a favourite frock – is it someone I’ve missed out?
