AmFar Gala at the Cannes Film Festival

Even amongst the glitz and glitter of the Cannes Film festival, the AmFar gala is very special, the most glamorous occasion of them all. The annual gala that is held by the Foundation for Aids Research has become a part of the Cannes Calendar, and, for fans of gorgeous frocks being worn by the cream of Hollywood and the world’s top models, this is total candy for the eyes.

This year all eyes were on Katy Perry. Now, I am not a fan of Katy’s style in general, can never understand how a woman so pretty can get it so wrong on so many occasions. But in a dramatic red gown from Marchesa, she looked like a Spanish dream. Yes it was a little flamenco, but the fabric and cut were stunning on Katy, and with flawless hair and make-up I was totally swept away by the sheer beauty of the whole look.

In other fashion news, there seemed to be a mass tribute for Angelina’s leg, with Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss and Heidi Klum all showing off one perfect pin. For me, this was one of Heidi’s best looks in ages, the lemon shade was beautiful, and as for those jewels (Harry Winston I believe), who couldn’t be blown away with the whole ensemble.

Other favourites included Rosie Huntington Whiteley, who is fast becoming one of the best dressed ladies on the carpet. Yes, she has hit the genetic jackpot, but her choices are stylish and elegant and allow her to stand out on any red carpet. I’m also loving Kirsten Dunst, who seems to be morphing more and more into an iconic 40s film star. I love her blonde waves, exquisite suit, and those glorious shoes.

Who’s style do you admire from the AmFar Gala? Do you have a favourite frock – is it someone I’ve missed out?

Festival fashion with a difference from Coachella

Coachella is that festival that will all wish we could go to. Taking place every year, it is the festival that the celebrity fashionista’s love, the one with the glorious weather, the one with no mud, the one where you can actually wear white. It combines sunshine, music, great clothes, pool parties, celebrity launches and lots of glamour. Yes, it is the one festival you can enjoy even if you hate tents!

I have been looking at all the outfits from this year’s festival and have chosen my favourite looks. Admittedly, some of these looks were seen at the events that surround Coachella – I doubt very much that Dita’s Art Deco inspired look even had a sniff of a band, and there are no Kendall Jenner looks either. The person who, for me, dominates the best dressed parade from Coachella this year has to be Alexa Chung, who shows that this year’s 70s trend translates so well into stylish and unique festival wear, and is about more than suede skirts and fringes.

New Year Celeb Style featuring Sam Bailey, The Kardashians and Rosie Huntington Whiteley

The first celebrity style post of 2014 is a look at some fantastic looks that I missed in a very busy December, and also some celebrity style launches that are well worth a glance.

We have the new queen of X Factor, and also Queen of Phase Eight, Sam Bailey, who flew the flag for women everywhere who just look for a chance to wear a beautiful gown. She positively blossomed before our eyes on X Factor, and every time her on-stage wardrobe featured Phase Eight, she won in the style stakes too. No wonder she is now adapting this for red carpet appearances, like at the Cosmopolitan Style Awards,

TV’s Loose Women are styled to perfection every day, looking groomed and immaculate. What is great is that almost all their looks are made up from the cream of the High Street. Such is the case with Sally Lindsey’s hot pink Wallis blouse, and Jane McDonald’s brocade jacket (now an absolute steal in the M&Co sale.)

Other great looks include a brilliant steal the look from Wallis that is great if Nicole Kidman is your style icon, and some of the latest looks from the Kardashian collection for Lipsy – this time heavy on the florals(love!). Thinking of the cold winter’s nights, we have a couple of my fave picks from the Rosie for Autograph range.

And finally, we have a couple of hot looks from young Hollywood, with Bailee Madison ethereal in French Connection, and Victoria Justice showing why Boohoo Boutique is such hot property at the moment.

Happy New Year!
