Dorothy Perkins new season – All about the dress.
I’ve just been previewing the gorgeous new collection from one of my High Street faves Dorothy Perkins, and its safe to say that if Spring/Summer 11 was all about the all-in-one jumpsuits, the Autumn/Winter is all about the dress. From Mad Men silhouettes to sexy leather shifts, from colour blocking to colour contrasting, from pencil skirts to skater skirts, there seems to be a dress for everyone.
Look 1 – Rosie Huntington Whiteley in Michael Kors
Rosie totally rocked in a black leather shift dress from Michael Kors. Who knew leather could look so sophisticated? You could copy this look in the stunning Leather and suede panelled dress from Dorothy Perkins. I would accessorise this by adding the cobalt blazer for that shock of colour. If this leaves you feeling black and blue, you could just add colour with the feisty blue platform heels.
Look 2 – Carey Mulligan in Roland Mouret.
Roland Mouret will always be associated with the iconic Galaxy dress, and this form-fitting silhouette shows no signs of going away. Carey Mulligan looked beautiful, and very contemporary wearing a more recent Mouret design, whilst Mad Men and the BBC drama ‘The Hour’ show us how flattering the late 1950/early 1960s styling can be – it’s just so ladylike. You can get the look in a series of elegant dresses from Dorothy Perkins this season. If you’ve decided to inject some colour into your wardrobe – try the green one. This is a sophisticated look, so remember your sense of fun with the dalmatian dotted heels.
Look 3 – Katherine Jenkins and Victoria Beckham in Victoria Beckham
Victoria has revitalised the skater skirted dress as the must have wardrobe staple. In a range of bright colours, this is a cute and flirty shape that fits and flares, hence making it hugely flattering. Katherine Jenkins wore a bright version to Wimbledon this year, whilst Victoria sticks to the classic black. Dorothy Perkins has many dresses in this shape – with both one block colour and two colour blocking options.
Stay tuned for more fabulous previews of the new season.
