Women Against Women In The World Of Fashion.
At the Los Angeles premiere of the movie ‘You again’, Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver committed the ultimate fashion sin, they turned up on the red carpet in the same David Meister teal dress. This was just a publicity gimmick to promote the film rather than a serious faux pas, but it did get me thinking. In the world of fashion there are only so many dresses, so many shops, so many designers, but there are a hell of a lot of women. So, it is natural that people will turn up at the same place in the same outfit from time to time, both in the normal and…

An evening with Roland Mouret at Selfridges Birmingham
One of the best things about being a blogger with an avid interest in fashion is that sometimes you actually get to meet your heroes. I have been so fortunate to meet the likes of Stella McCartney, Markus Lupfer, Philip Armstrong and Amanda Wakeley, and last week I got to add another illustrious name to that list, when the charming genius Roland Mouret made a visit to The Balcony at Selfridges, Birmingham, for a very exclusive fashion show. I was very lucky to get a front row seat. It is now eleven years since the Galaxy dress burst onto the scene and enchanted the fashion world, but Roland Mouret still…

Duchess Kate ends the year in Style
In terms of pure style, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge has had another triumphant year. She showed that maternity style could be chic and elegant, wearing much of her pre-pregnancy wardrobe with aplomb, and making Seraphine a household name. Since the birth of Prince George. Kate has worn great look after great look. Of course, the Duchess has stayed true to her recycling roots. There have been reappearances from Orla Kiely and Roland Mouret, showing that if a look is good, it is too good to just be worn once. She has also once again taken inspiration from High Street favourites, most recently in the Delaney Coat from Reiss. And she…

Harvey Nichols Birmingham Spring Fashion Show
The Harvey Nichols seasonal fashion shows have always been an unmissable spectacle, but this year the bar was raised in spectacular fashion. Using the industrial space that was once the Old Post Office in Birmingham‘s magnificent Mailbox complex, this show showcased the best of this season’s hot style offerings. In the past the Harvey Nichols show have been impressive, but somewhat restricted to the actual brands stocked in store. But now, with the click and collect service in place, Harvey Nichols Birmingham can now deliver the best of British design, from Mary Katrantzou, Roksanda Ilincic, Roland Mouret and Christopher Kane. All these designers, and so many more, were represented in…

BAFTAS – My Best Dressed
I have to say that this years BAFTA awards was one of the most enjoyable in years. Stephen Fry was on great form presenting, and the Hollywood contigent was almost in full attendance, making this a super glamorous and starry eyed occasion. It was also one of the best dressed award evenings I have ever watched, with just so many fantastic looks, ranging from super elegant to super sexy. I’ve decided to focus on my favourite dresses from this years ceremony, so there are no places for Anne Hathaway (fine, but a tad dull in Burberry), Andrea Riseborough and Marion Cotillard (who wore the same, gorgeous shade of yellow in…
