Seasonal Style at the Botanical Gardens

Last week I was a guest of Barques PR at a gorgeous afternoon of food, fizz and seasonal fashion. The Seasonal Style event, which is held annually at Birmingham’s beautiful Botanical Gardens, was a feast of the best fashion and beauty around, with a style presentation by the lovely Beth Goodrham, and beauty demonstrations by Bobbi Brown’s leading artist Amy Conway. Add into this a host of stalls with exhibitors including Pai Skincare, Rachel Simpson shoes and Jo Malone, and you have a most glamorous afternoon.

The day started with champagne and a browse around the stalls. John Lewis was a supporter of the event, and representatives from the &Beauty department were out in force, with Bobbi Brown, Pai Skincare and Jo Malone all offering advice (and arm massages). There were also gorgeous pieces of jewellery from Livto jewellery and Hannah Walker jewellery, along with lust inducing designer handbags (Chanel anyone?) and vintage furs from Fellows Auctioneers.

The show

Birmingham Stylist Beth Goodrham had chosen outfits from the vast range at John Lewis to highlight key looks that will work for all summer occasions, from race days and ladies days, to summer weddings, and even more casual occasions. The outfits came from a range of brands, from Ted Baker, Hobbs, Kin, Mint Velvet and Reiss.  The models used were woman who had attended the event, which was a lovely touch, and Beth truly styled them to perfection – there wasn’t an outfit I wouldn’t have worn, and there were so many pieces I absolutely loved.

Beauty

Amy Conway showed the audience lots of quick fixes for glowing, healthy looking skin, using the lovely Lucy from John Lewis as a model. These were the sort of 5 minute pick me ups that even the busiest of woman could attempt – I definitely need to invest in a foundation stick from Bobbi Brown now.  I loved how Lucy’s skin looked so healthy, and picked up tips on using blusher and bronzer.

Food

The meal was catered for by Ampersand, the Botanical Garden’s catering team. It was a deliciously balanced two courses, with chicken for the main, and the most delicious Lemon Cheesecake and raspberry sorbet for dessert.

I had the most wonderful afternoon with the team from Barques, it was lovely to put on a pretty dress and enjoy fashion, beauty and fine food.
