Bespoke, beautiful sandals from K. Jacques

Imagine you could create a sandal that was completely bespoke, created by your own design, and then that sandal would be made, for you, in one of the World’s most glamorous towns, the sun-drenched Saint Tropez. You could choose from a range of leather or suede sandal designs, from flat to wedges, choosing your colours, your finishes, straps, literally everything. It sounds amazing, but it is a reality with K. Jacques, who have been creating beautiful, bespoke sandals for three generations.

The K. Jacques fashion house was awarded the French Award the EPV: Entreprise du Patrmoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label in 2011. A family brand, started in 1933, K. Jacques symbolises everything that is stylish and elegant about French Fashion, and has a legion of celebrity fans, including Kate Moss and Miranda Kerr, who both love the Picon design, Cheryl Cole who has been spotted wearing the Saint Tropez Buffons, and Gisele Bundchen who often wears the Epicure sandals. The brand is both timeless and current, and the sandals are works of art that are also built to last. So I was super excited when I was offered the chance to design my own K Jacques sandals, joining a super glamorous K Jacques contigent.

It has to be said, the design process on the K. Jacques site is very easy to navigate. You first choose the design of sandal that you would like to create. They range from flat , wedge heeled, stack heeled and moccasin designs and you can choose from men, women or children’s categories. Once you choose a design, there is an option to customise – this is true of all the models. I opted for the Annapyr Zebra design (cost 230euros), but wanted to use different colours and textures for my sandal.

The instructions are clear and simple. And you don’t need to be a designer to explain what you are looking for, simple terms like front strap, cross over straps and ankle straps are sufficient. Once you are happy you can submit your design. I chose ANDRY BLUE, METAL AZUL NOCE, METAL ACIER. I had initially opted for Metal Anthracite, but was open to the suggestion that Acier would be a better match, and really liked the sketch that I received of my sandal. The email communication was excellent and I received regular updates about my sandals.

The sandals arrive beautifully boxed and with a dustbag which would be perfect if traveling. The design was just perfect, so beautiful and eye catching, sturdy, but not too heavy, made using stunning quality leather. I fell in love the minute I got them out of the box.

I would suggest that if you tend to wear wide fitting shoes, it may be better to size up in this particular design, as the cross straps are a little narrow, as I often find with European sandals. They are very comfortable though, almost molding to you feet with your first wear. And they look super pretty, whether you are wearing them with jeans, or a sundress.

I think these are just gorgeous and I know I will be wearing them as long as the weather allows, and then pulling them out again for next Summer. My own bespoke sandals – what an absolute treat!
