New Look Press Day
New Look are one of the most popular and consistent of all high street retailers, producing collection after collection of great clothes, and accessories ranges that now, in my opinion, rival anything that the High Street (and some designer collections) have to offer. The recent New Look press day was an eclectic mixture of glorious jewellery, accessories that belied their High Street roots, and a clothing collection that was more dressed down than dressed up, and showed influences that ranged from Debbie Harry and punk, to Vivienne Westwood and pearlie kings and queens. There was much to admire and enjoy. Jewellery The statement necklace has is something that New Look…

Great Gatsby Fever with Collection 8
It is almost here. The most anticipated film for both movie buffs and fashionista’s is set to be launched at the Cannes Film festival. And from stills already released, we know that we are in for a treat. The Great Gatsby has been made into a film on at least two occasions, in 1949 with Betty Field and Alan Ladd, and a fashionably iconic but ultimately disappointing 1970s version with Mia Farrow and Robert Redford as the ill fated lovers Daisy Buchanan and Jay Gatsby. Now we are waiting to see what Carey Mulligan and Leonardo Di Caprio bring to the roles. The released stills from the movie, the trailer…

Springtime – The perfect time for Home Improvements
As regular readers of the Fashion-Mommy blog know, my son Joe is now 4 years old. And after a couple of years when he seemed hellbent on wrecking every area of the house, he has now calmed down. No more drawing on the walls (well, not that often anyway), no more pouring lunch and dinner all over the floor, and finally, sleeping in his own bed. And that means I think the time has come to make a start on some of the home improvements we had been putting off until Joe was a little older. Starting with turning our master bedroom back into a boudoir and sanctuary. Now, the…

Wallis 1923 Dress Collection – The Little Cream dress
Each season, Wallis dig into their rich archive to come up with the 1923 collection. This is a collection that re-images and re-masters old designs in order to bring something to the fore that has a vintage feel whilst being totally new. This season, the 1923 collection returns with a tribute to the Little Cream Dress. This is a beautiful range of dresses that feature beading and embellishment to create dresses that bow to quite a few different eras. There are Art Deco style curved rainbows that echo The Great Gatsby trend, albeit showing far more leg than even that racy era would allow. The Cream sequin shift dress is…

The Oscars – My top 10 Dresses
So it’s all over, the 2013 Oscars was one of the most anticipated ceremonies in recent years, with some real vintage films and performances to savour. In terms of the dresses, I don’t personally think it was a vintage year, most stars looked great, but safe in their choices, and there were so many strapless dresses that I was overjoyed when the long-sleeved vision of Jennifer Hudson walked onto the red carpet. But there were still some beautiful looks to enjoy, and so I have chosen my favourite 10, that I will announce, X Factor style, in no particular order. Naomi Watts in Armani Prive Naomi Watts looked sublime in…
