Turning a Dangerous Corner at Birmingham Rep
A chance remark about a musical cigarette box is the premise for a series of life changing revelations to be revealed in JB Priestley’s Dangerous Corner, which opened at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre last night. What then follows is an exciting, multi-layered drama that challenges the concept of whether it is always better to tell the truth, or whether you should sometimes let sleeping dogs lie. Dangerous Corner was Priestley’s first foray into the idea of time slips and deja vu as a plot device, something he later used to such amazing effect in the masterpiece ‘An Inspector Calls’. The play starts with a gunshot, which turns out to be…

Bobbi Brown launches Long Wear Sparkle Gel.
A couple of weeks ago I pulled myself from my sick bed (I had the wretched sinusitis) to attend an event that I was seriously excited about. The Bobbi Brown concession based in House of Fraser, Birmingham, was launching a very special new product with a series of make-overs and demonstrations that promised to show the best way to achieve the glamorous smoky eyed look that is always super glamorous for evening. The long-wear Gel sparkle offers all the colour of an eye shadow, but can also be applied as a liner with a brush for a super pretty sparkly eye. The colour can be built up layer upon layer,…

Another triumphant Return for Disney on Ice
The latest Disney on Ice show ‘100 years of magic’ landed in Birmingham on Wednesday night, and once more proved that when it comes to enchanting adults and children alike, Disney has no equal. With old favourites and new set pieces merging together in one wonderful ice show, the ice spectacle was the perfect start of half term fun. ‘100 years of magic’ takes a whole host of Disney’s famous creations, along with some of the most iconic scenes and songs from Disney movies, and blends them all together in a fabulous frothy cocktail of fun. From the moment Mickey, Minnie and friends burst onto the ice in a riot…

Harvey Nichols A/W fashion Show
Even by the incredibly high standards their previous shows have set, the latest Harvey Nichols Birmingham Autumn/Winter fashion show was pretty impressive. Set in the grey concrete confines of the Mailbox underground car park, the show was vibrant, glossy and full of High Octane glamour. In recent years the Birmingham shows have transformed themselves from merely being a regional showcase, turning into a calender date that just can’t be missed. This year, the fashion parade was like a who’s who of the current fashion world, with designs by Peter Pilotto, Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane, Thakoon and Lanvin, amongst many more, gracing the catwalk. The show’s venue reflected well against the…

Itihaas Brasserie at Selfridges, Birmingham
Itihaas Brasserie opened in 2012 within the Birmingham Selfridges Food Hall. It was a new concept offering Itihaas’s original renowned Indian cuisine (their main Birmingham restaurant has won the best restaurant award in the UK Cobra Good Curry Guide) and high standards, yet in a casual setting. The brasserie was an instant success, I ate there quite soon after the opening and loved the food and the buzzing atmosphere. Last weekend I decided it was high time for a revisit, and so I decided to lunch there whilst I was enjoying the Bullring’s Autumn Fashion Fix. Itihaas is located right in the heart of the ground floor of Selfridges Birminham.…
