Afternoon tea at The Laurent Perrier Champagne Lounge
Friday was a bit of a special day in my calendar, as I took my lovely mom to experience the new afternoon High Tea at the Laurent Perrier Champagne Bar at Marco Pierre White’s 25th floor restaurant in The Cube, Birmingham. As a lover of high tea (especially scones and cream) this had been the perfect invitation for me, and I was delighted to be given a chance to savor the flavours. We arrived a little early, so decided to make the most of the lovely sunshine and hot weather by enjoying a drink on the terrace. MPW has what is agreed are the best panoramic views of Birmingham, you…

Reviewed – Jacques Vert Champagne Lace Dress
There are some dresses that you can wear everyday, for any occasion. But there are also dresses that are something a little bit special. The sort of dresses that make you feel a bit like Duchess Kate. This description perfectly fits the beautiful dress that Jacques Vert sent me to review – the Champagne lace embellished dress. The champagne lace effect embellished dress is truly exquisite. A shift style dress with layers of scalloped lace, covered with lots of…

Dial M for Murder spellbinds at The Rep
Can a perfect murder ever be committed, or do human frailties mean we miss tiny details that would inevitably get us caught? That is the premise for ‘Dial M for Murder’, a claustrophobic thriller by Frederick Knott that was most famously bought to life by the genius of Alfred Hitchcock and the beauty of Grace Kelly. A new production by Lucy Bailey is currently playing at The Rep theatre in Birmingham, and I went along to see how the suspense holds up 60 years after it was originally written. The story is many layered. The glamorous Kelly Hotten plays Sheila Wendice, a once adulterous, now devoted wife of ex- tennis…

One of the first companies to take up space in the new store was fabulous children’s footwear brand Skribbies, which offers light up LED shoes on their company website among many other children’s footwear options. Skribbies are the innovative range of kids trainers that can be drawn on. The idea of young entrepreneur Jennifer Duthie, Skribbies were launched last year and have been a huge hit with parents and children alike. The premise is simple, the…

West Side Story is the toast of Birmingham
It is quite rightly considered to be the greatest musical of them all, and last night ‘West Side Story’ at the New Alexandra Theatre mesmerised Birmingham with a production of power and intensity. A VIP audience was treated to a performance that had it all, a standout leading man, songs that made the heart both soar and ache in equal measure, dance that combined the most thrilling aspects of ballet and salsa in exhilarating form, and a ending that was tragic, and yet hopeful. West Side Story is a theatrical experience that shocked with its modernism and violence in the late 1950s, but has a story that still resonates today,…
