Fashion Picks for Kids for late Spring
It is around this time of the year that I take a look at Joe’s wardrobe, and work out what he needs to his Summer holidays. We are one of those naughty families who take Joe out of school in order to take a family holiday abroad – we couldn’t afford it otherwise, and so need to sort things like shorts, swimwear and t-shirts quite early on, before the stores start getting their Autumn ranges in (ever noticed that this happens every July?). One of the places I always look is House of Fraser. I would rather pay a little more for clothes that fit well and last, than getting…

The Cineworld family experience and Zootropolis
One of the great things about your children getting that little bit older is the chance to enjoy family film experiences. Because, as much as I love watching movies at home with Joe during a duvet day, there is nothing like the experience of the cinema – the smell of popcorn, watching those trailers, filling the face with pick and mix and enjoying a great film on the big screen. On Saturday Pete, Joe and I went to our nearest branch of Cineworld to enjoy Zootropolis, the latest Disney release. I have been to this particular Cineworld on a few occasions, but Joe had never been and was excited, as…

Dry skin and Hay Fever relief for Children
Summer is a fantastic time, isn’t it? We have the sunshine, the long days and light nights, the flowers, the grass, the butterflies and ice-creams etc, etc. But with all this, we also have the pollen bringing the hayfever, with its stinging and streaming eyes, runny noses and itchy skin. Summer is wonderful, but for some people, it is a time when for feeling run-down and ill. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case with my son Joe. He has been prone to extremely dry skin for a while now, and, as eczema runs in our family, there is every likelihood that this is what the problem is (although the…

Introducing Roco Clothing
Like most parents, I like Joe to be involved in choosing the clothes he wears. But as he is getting older (7 now), I find more and more that the choices are very predictable. If given total carte blanche, he would live in football tops, tracksuits or jogging bottoms, with a pair of trainers or football boots to complete the outfit. But, every so often, he shocks me and asks for his smart clothes. He has a tweed blazer he loves, certain shirts he enjoys wearing, and is very happy to wear smart skinny jeans and brogues ‘like his dad’. Joe may like his casual clothes, but he also has…

A Visit to King Arthur’s Labyrinth, Corris, Wales
One thing that is virtually guaranteed on a visit to Wales is that, at some point, you will have rain. The Easter holiday saw weather of all varieties, from sunshine and blue skies, to heavy rain, strong winds, and even blasts of snow. When the weather is inclement, you may find yourself searching for something to do that will interest both children and adults, and will give you at least a couple of hours in dry surroundings. The King Arthur’s Labyrinth in Corris, Mid Wales, is perfect for those interested in myths, legends, legendary kings and dragons. You access the Labyrinth through the Corris Craft Centre, a collection of 8…
