The Nutcracker brings Christmas Magic to Birmingham
A visit to see ‘The Nutcracker’ always signifies the start of my Christmas. The classic Tchaikovsky ballet which tells the magical story of the night before Christmas, is a seasonal treat that arrived at the Birmingham Hippodrome this weekend, delighting audiences young and old. To put it simply, The Nutcracker is Christmas, especially when staged by the fabulous Birmingham Royal Ballet, celebrating 25 years in 2015. It is sparkle and glitter, excitement and anticipation, presents and children, and, most of all dreams and magic. This is all reflected in the exquisite set design, which transforms from a sumptuous Victorian home, complete with an enormous Christmas Tree (courtesy of Prince Albert,…

Mailbox Sessions at the Everyman Cinema
The Birmingham Mailbox was relaunched in some style last month with Mailbox Sessions. Taking place over a weekend, the Mailbox Sessions were special, free events dedicated to showcasing the best of the Mailbox in terms of fashion and beauty, food and entertainment. Many of the sessions were presented by the lovely Lucy Kite from ITV, and all were well attended. I was invited to quite a few of the sessions, but the one which totally had me jumping up and down was a Breakfast at Tiffany’s special at the Everyman Cinema. The session was all about having breakfast at a screening of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, complete with Bucks Fizz and…

Disney on Ice presents World of Enchantment in Birmingham
The little girls had their best Elsa and Anna costumes on. The little boys couldn’t decide whether to buy a plastic sword or a cuddly version of Lightning McQueen, it could only mean one thing – Disney on Ice was back in Birmingham, at the city’s Barclaycard Arena. And, once again, it was a show that was high on Disney charm and magic with much-loved characters and crowd pleasing songs giving the audience a lovely night to remember. The show started with a set piece from Toy Story 3, as Andy is putting away his childish things before he embarks on a new adventure at college. The toys end up…

Strictly Come Dancing is back
Normal television service is resumed tomorrow night. After a summer of pretty shoddy Saturday night television, tomorrow the sequins, the bare toned torsos and the ‘ten from Len’ all return as Strictly Come Dancing returns to the screen. With the likes of Peter Andre, Ainsley Harriot, Kellie Bright and Jeremy Vine in the line-up, it promises to be a vintage year, with the beautiful and the hilarious meshing to make TV Gold. I can hardly wait. It seems Strictly fever is about to hit in some style. The Live show tickets will be on sale from 9am on Monday 28th September, returning for it’s 9th year, this seasons shows will…
