Celebrating Shaun the Sheep with Peter Lord
Peter Lord is a legend in the world of animation, one half of the team behind Aardman Animations, Peter is responsible for the likes of Shaun the Sheep, Chicken Run, and, of course Wallis and Gromit. A few years ago I was lucky enough to interview Peter when his exhibition ‘The Pirates, an adventure with Scientists’ was residing in Birmingham’s Think Tank. I chatted to Peter about all things animation, including the then upcoming Shaun the Sheep movie which has just been released in cinemas. Here is part of the interview (the full piece appeared in Primary Time West Midlands and Derby editions). FM: You talk a lot about inspiring…

Disney on Ice Magical Ice festival is almost here
As a huge fan of Disney on Ice, the arrival of a brand new show always leads to a real sense of excitement – the shows are always magical, sparkling and thoroughly good entertainment that leaves the whole family feeling happy and satisfied. But the new show, ‘Magical Ice Festival’ is causing thousands of children up and down the country to feel almost dizzy in anticipation. A beautiful but secluded house sitting alone on a weather ravaged island. A group of 10 people, all strangers to one another, invited to the island for a range of different reasons. A mysterious host delayed in London, not there to great his guests. And ten mysterious statues sitting on a mantlepiece, that, one by one, start to disappear and break as the guests are picked off by a murderous assassin, out to dish the justice they thought they had escaped. This is the premise of the 2015 version of the classic Agatha Christie play ‘And then there was none’, which opened last night at Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre. A classy…

The Return of Mr Selfridge
Sunday night sees the return of the rather delectable Jeremy Piven to our screens as the huge TV hit Mr Selfridge returns for its third series. I’m a huge fan of Harry, and of the series in general, so I have to admit to rather looking forward to its welcome return. The new series will kick off in 1919, with Harry mourning his wife Rose. The real Rose died in 1918, when the First World War had not yet ended, but the series transports the death forward in time. Frances O Connor has left the series, but we have new cast members in the shape of Kara and Hannah Tointon…

Strictly Come Dancing Live Wows the Crowds in Birmingham
I can honestly not think of a better way to spend a rather cold afternoon, than enjoying the endless delights of Strictly Come Dancing, performed live on it’s arena tour. For sheer glamour, fun and family entertainment, it is hard to beat, as a packed house at Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena discovered yesterday. Presented by the lovely Zoe Ball, and with a new judging panel that now included 2008 champions Camilla Dallerup and Tom Chambers (swoon and double swoon – read my previous post to find out why), the live show combines the best of the television series – the most accomplished dancers (in this case reigning champion Caroline Flack, the…
