New Ways to have a Girls Night Out and a Girls Night in

The cliche of a girls night out on the town, with lots of wine, heels and clubbing is fun when you’re younger – and even when you’re older, on the odd occasion. But lets face it, it’s gets boring. Night outs on the town always tend to end the same way, either you have to get a taxi back early because the baby sitter needs to be relieved, or you stumble home drunk after some ill advised dancing in a club full of youngsters and suffer through a monumental hangover for the next three days.  No one wants to completely shelve the drinking and dancing nights out with the girls…

Carphone Warehouse invites you to play ‘Snake Retro’ to win prizes

If you are of a certain age and you think back to your first mobile phone, the chances are you used to get very excited about playing ‘Snake’. Yes, you remember it, it was the one where the snake (really a bendy graphic line that looked absolutely nothing like a snake if we’re being honest) was moved around the phone screen in order to eat things, a game that really exercised those fingers. Now entitled ‘Snake Retro’, the new version…

Music Magpie – making money by Recycling

This morning I am going to tell you about a very useful website I have recently discovered. As regular readers of Fashion-mommy know, I am a huge fan of recycling and upcycling goods, I avidly sort out my rubbish, my wardrobe is regularly culled and unwanted stuff given to Charity Shops, and I am forever filling charity bags that land on my doorstep. But Website Music Magpie may well change the way I look at recycling in that you can actually make money from all manner of things that you may previously have given away, from old clothing to DVDs, from games and consoles to recycling your old mobile phone.…

Pyschobitches, Kylie and Jessa – Reasons to Switch to Sky this Summer

I’ve recently switched my internet provider to Sky Broadband. It seemed to make perfect sense to have my satellite TV, telephone calls and internet from one combined source, and Sky was the best option for my family, especially with the Sky+ element, and my husband’s love of HD channels. Although I had always used Freeview in the past, the Broadband bundles currently offered by Sky , which include unlimited Broadband (perfect for a blogger of course),  the Sky TV entertainment package that includes Sky Atlantic, and a free Sky HD box, mean that I have a package that both addresses my working needs in the form of reliable and fast…

    P is for Paloma Faith

I’m spending the evening trying to persuade my hubby that the best birthday present I could receive this year would be Paloma Faith tickets for her June 7th gig at the O2. It would be true to say I’m more than a little obsessed with the singer, her sublime voice is the sort that could sell you a nursery rhyme, whilst her style combines the best of the quirky, the unique and the decidedly retro, sort of what would happen if Rita Hayworth had been combined with Minnie Mouse. Even when we consider all the beautiful and stylish, and mega talented female singers we have on the music scene at…
