Check out the Birmingham Hollywood Bowl – Fun for all the family
On Sunday we went to check out one of the new Hollywood Bowl, based in Rubery, Birmingham. I often visit the Hollywood Bowl at Bentley Bridge in Wolverhampton, but the Rubery branch is bigger, better and far more glamorous, with an American style Diner, an adults only Snooker/pool area, and special VIP booths from where drinks and food can be ordered and served while you enjoy a game of bowling. We had the most wonderful time, proving that when the weather is dismal, bowling is good, clean fun for the whole family. The Hollywood Bowl, as the name would suggest, has an American Idols theme running throughout. The walls, both…

What the Ladybird heard at Birmingham Town Hall
Every year at Christmas, Birmingham Town Hall stages a family show that is based on a children’s classic story. In the past this has seen great adaptations of ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’ and ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.’ This year they have turned their attention to Julia Donaldson with a dramatisation of ‘What the Ladybird Heard’. And whilst it is bright and colourful, and generally good fun, I don’t think it has the same appeal as recent productions. The main reason for this is the star of the show, the ladybird. My eight year old Joe said, I think the ladybird should’ve been much bigger, maybe someone…

Hatton Country World Enchanted Christmas
Christmas arrived at Hatton Country World this weekend with the launch of Enchanted Christms. The farm yard setting was suddenly invaded with tinsel and sparkle as Santa set up his grotto and very special workshop/toyshop in the Warwickshire countryside. With the shopping village also feeling very seasonal with a Christmas market and twinkling lights, it is certainly beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Hatton. Hatton enchanted Christmas is a glorious mixture of family shows, Christmas crafts and shopping, and a really lovely Grotto experience where those on the good list receive a special key to Santa’s toyshop. Children can then choose their own present from a good range…

Ribena Minis ‘Less Spills, Less Mess’
Ever since I was a child, I have loved Ribena. The original blackcurrant version is, in fact, the drink I most associate with being young, my mom insisted that it was far better for me than fizzy pop (of course she was correct) and so we always had the cordial, that I seem to remember had a foil top. These days, we usually have Ribena squash in our kitchen cupboards – old habits do die hard it seems. Last month saw Ribena launch a brand new range. Ribena Minis combine Ribena’s, delicious flavours with a ‘Less Spills, Less Mess’ cap. The idea is that these are ideal for putting into…

The Haunted Castle is back at Warwick Castle
It’s that time of year again, when witches and wizards, warlocks and demons and all the things that go bump in the night make their annual appearance. Halloween is almost upon us and with it, the beautiful, historic Warwick Castle becomes the spooky, mysterious haunted castle, with Witches Towers, Devils ramparts and haunted hollows. We went along yesterday to check out the seasonal activities, and, getting into the spirit of things, took our own little ‘Grim Reaper’ along for the trip. Warwick is one of the best examples of a castle in England, and I love how it truly gets into the spirit of Halloween, with activities and attractions that…
