    Expedia World on a Plate

I was recently asked if I would be interested in taking part in a cookery challenge with Expedia. Called ‘World on a plate’, the project involved creating culinary delights based around the cuisine of a given European location. I was given Malta – a place that I have visited in the past and totally fell in love with. Malta is a small Mediterranean island with a interesting cuisine that seems to take it’s influences from both nearby Italy, with oily seafood and salads, and also Middle Eastern dishes, including Pastizzi Tal Pizelli, which is a sort of mushy peas pasty, and also comes in a variety filled with Ricotta cheese.…

Winter travel essentials – escape to the sun

As a person who wishes it could be Summer every day, rather than Christmas, the idea of jetting away to enjoy some Winter sun is a really attractive one. As I sit here, nursing the effects of a nasty throat infection, sneezing from a rotten cold and generally feeling depressed by the greyness of the sky, how can you not feel tempted to just book a flight and jet off somewhere with beaches, cocktails and sunshine? Escaping to some Winter Sun

That’s it, we are officially in Christmas season. John Lewis have released their advert this morning and it is another absolute triumph, a real tear jerker entitled ‘The Man in the Moon’.  This very fact, combined with the passing of both Halloween and Bonfire Night, means that we are now safely on the home stretch towards Christmas. But what if your best answer to Christmas and Winter is to escape it? What if you like a little Winter Sun. There are certainly some real bargains to be found at this time of year, with companies like Sunshine.co.uk offering cheap flights, hotels and package holidays while the season is quieter. But,…

A guide to European Food Festivals

Following on from my post last week looking at my favourite food places in Dubai (you can check out that post here) I have been sent a great infographic produced by Money transfer experts  CurrencyFair which is looking at the food of Europe in relation to national dishes, street food and their pick of the continent’s top restaurants. The infographic has taken every European country, from Albania to the United Kingdom, and then gives information that relates to food. This includes what you can expect to pay, per head, in restaurants, and what you can expect to pay in the chosen, highlighted restaurant (for the UK the suggestion is the…

Travelbag focuses on restaurants in Dubai

A quick question for you. On all the holidays you have enjoyed and all the places you have travelled to, where is the best place you have ever eaten? This could relate to travels in Europe, further afield, or in the UK? I have been lucky enough to do some travelling, visiting some stunning and spectacular places over the years, especially before Joe was born. I loved the exciting cuisine of the Far East, especially the street food that costs so little and yet tastes so good, but if I had to pick the best food that I had eaten whilst enjoying a holiday, I would have to say that…
