Big Style Crush – Florence Welch
She’s a muse to Karl Lagerfeld, cites 1970s drag queen troop ‘The Cockettes‘ as a fashion influence and has described her style as ‘Lady of Shallot meets Ophelia.’ Is it any wonder that at the moment I am totally besotted by the wardrobe and pure style masterclass that is Florence Welch? The Titian haired Florence and the Machine songstress is an ethereal, alabaster beauty, a Lizzie Siddall for the 21st Century. And whilst promoting her latest album, ‘The Ceremonials‘ she has adopted a look that has taken in influence from my favourite Art Deco era. Her look is a covered up look, Isadora Duncan style scarves and sleeves, acres of…

My week with Marilyn
I’ve been a Marilyn Monroe fan for as long as I can remember. Her sheer glamour, loveable persona and that beautiful face and figure made her my key beauty icon whilst I was growing up. Add in her tumultuous love life and mysterious death and you get one of the most fascinating personalities of the 20th century. But even with all these key ingredients, making a good film about this Icon has been difficult. The best portrayal was by Catherine Hicks in the 1980 film, Marilyn – The Untold Story. She managed to portray the vulnerability of Marilyn, but the film itself was dire. But now we may just have…

Carnaby Street and Grazia Fashion Party
Last Thursday Fashion-Mommy enjoyed a lovely evening at the Carnaby Street fashion party, held in collaboration with Grazia magazine. For one special night only, shoppers were treated to 20% discount at all Carnaby Street stores, whilst being treated to gorgeous mulled cider at the White Horse pop-up bar in Kingly Court. There were other treats to enjoy. There were complimentary make overs at Illamasqua, whilst a traditional barber was on hand to treat the boys at Ben Sherman. There were also opportunities to take part in photo shoots at Revival, and funny seaside style shoots at David and Goliath…you can see the result of that below! And of course, with…

Put on your dancing shoes…it’s party season!
Recently the Next blogger network asked bloggers to choose their favourite pair of shoes from their rather vast, and totally fabulous collection. I browsed long and hard, weighing up the pros and cons of each pair of shoes, and changing my mind every few minutes, before deciding on the ultimate pair of party shoes for Fashion-Mommy. And so, ladies and gentlemen, I unveil my pick of the Next party shoes, the ivory bow back court shoes! So why did I choose these? Well firstly it would’ve been too easy to plump for black or Santa red options, and these ivory beauties have a distinctly snowy feel to them. Secondly, they…

Winter’s all wrapped up with New Look’s Iconic Styles.
For the first time this morning I have woken up and felt cold. I am suddenly facing the urge to go out shopping and buy hats, scarves and gloves…and maybe even a new coat. I’m not really a winter person, and so to me the only plus point to winter is the fabulous excuse to buy warm and snug clothing. There are lots of great items on the High Street at the moment, and many stores are having a pre-Christmas sale. New Look is one such store, with up to an amazing 50% off many of its key items. And some of their key items have a distinctly iconic look……
