Charity Shops In January – What To Buy

If there is one thing that is absolutely true of charity shops in January, it is that they are full of stuff. Many people have a clear out after Christmas. They take down the tree and decorations, put them away for another year, and then decide to clear out the clutter. This clearing out of the clutter can mean rich pickings at the Charity shop, and also on Vinted. We all need space to put away our new things, and the old saying that one man’s junk is another man’s treasure has never been so true.

So, if you are planning on a good hunt around the charity shops this January, what should you be looking for?

Christmas Decor

Yes, I know what you’re thinking – but we’ve just had Christmas, but now is definitely the best time to pick up some lovely and unusual decorations as most charity shops will reduce any remaining Christmas decor by at least 50%. I have picked up some bits that I will be packing up for next Christmas, including some cute Christmas bears that I found at the new Acorns superstore in Walsall, and a couple of great Christmas plates from The Children’s Society.

Anything out of season

I’ve noticed lots of charity shops have sale rails and boxes that are full of Spring and Summer clothing. One shop had a box where you could buy five items for £3, and these were great quality items from decent brands, so it was definitely worth a look, even if you are thinking ahead to warmer days.

Vintage Accessories – Fashion and Home

Vintage is, to be fair, always worth buying, and vintage pieces are something that I’ve already noticed a lot in the period after Christmas, perhaps due to people having a sort out. I loved the pretty milk jug in bone china, and the vintage bag for St Giles shop, Cannock was in immaculate condition. I’ve been searching for vintage plates, as we seem to have smashed a few over the Christmas period. (Anyone else had this problem?).
