Holiday packing calls in a lot of elements, especially if you are going away for longer than a week. You need enough clothing to take you to the beach, the pool, sightseeing and then out for the evening where you may be dining, or dancing the night away. But baggage allowances seem to be falling every year, with some tour operators now only allowing 15kilos. So, finding versatile pieces that can be worn for both daytime and evening is a good move to keep the weight of your case down.
The F&F halter neck dress is a piece that does just that. Although the style is halter neck, this is not backless, but merely has an halter style. The crossover style skirt gives it a faux wrap style effect, and the jersey material makes this comfortable, especially for delicate skin that may just be suffering from sunburn. (Yes me- without fail.)
This dress comes in classic black, and more colourful options of orange (think coral) and teal. Did I mention this dress is just £10 – a total bargain that means you could definitely choose more than one colour. Despite being tempted by colour, I always like the idea of black on holiday, teamed with sunnies and flat sandals for a glam tourist look so I chose the black option to review.
I wore the dress for an evening occasion last week in Birmingham, the launch of the Aluna cocktail bar, and I think it was perfect for the occasion, showing that this dress can lend itself easily to evening wear. I teamed it with vintage style shoes from Bertie, a bit of bling in the form of a Butler and Wilson brooch, and a oversized, white, sequin clutch from Dorothy Perkins.
This dress is true to size, if anything I could’ve sized down as it is quite lose around my bust and arm areas (I struggling with sizes at the moment due to losing weight – I never know what to order and invariably go too big – this is an 18 for information.) Despite being a stretchy jersey style contain, the cut makes it feel like an elegant, dressy choice, but I would love to wear it with metallic flip flops, a ponytail and straw bag on holiday – I think it would work like this.
