Deluxe Dinner Suits from F&F Clothing

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was nominated for best blogger award at the inaugural Birmingham Awards which took place last Friday at the Warwickshire Cricket Ground. I was dressed in a beautiful gown from Kaliko (which you can read about here.) My husband Pete, who was my plus one on the night was in a wonderful formal dinner suit that was sent for the occasion by those wonderful people at F&F Clothing.

Pete is quite adventurous when it comes to clothing, he will experiment with different colours and take chances on new styles. He has worn a dinner suit on a number of occasions ranging from weddings, to formal nights on-board cruise ships, and he has always gone down a traditional route, with a black tuxedo. On this occasion however, he decided to try something in a different colour and fabric, wearing a navy version, with a slim fit tuxedo.

Because this is a slim fit suit, it has a more modern feel than the traditional dinner suits, and the fabric is also luxurious, with a slight pattern. The colour and pockets have a satin black trim, making it match the bow tie and a handkerchief for the top pocket if required. Blue tuxedos have been making a regular appearance on red carpets of late, and this whole look felt very current and now, think Bradley Cooper, Matthew McConaghey and Gerard Butler for inspiration.

DSCN9692It was such a great night and the suit was perfect for the occasion. It was a really good fit, the jacket was size medium, and was comfortable for Pete to wear – not too tight under the arms. Teamed with the traditional bow tie and black shoes I think this was a dapper, dashing look, one that is also very reasonably priced too.

If you are looking for formal wear for any occasion this Christmas, I would definitely check out F&F Clothing.

F&F Clothing have sorted your Winter Coat Dilemma

It is getting colder. That is official. Yesterday I spent a couple of hours on the touchline watching my son play football, and I don’t mind admitting I was cold. Really cold. The wind was blowing a gale, the sky was dark and murky and the sun never even made one fleeting appearance. It was a day when a jacket just would not do. It was a day for a proper Winter coat.

F&F Clothing have totally got Winter coats sorted. Ultimately we want something that will look great, keep us warm, and be hardwearing enough to last us until Spring. But we don’t want to spend a fortune because ultimately most coats only last us one Winter, we want to get a new style or colour when the cold comes around again. And, some of us actually want to get two coats, one for every day wear like going to work or the school run, and then we want to get something a little more glamorous for going out, especially over the Christmas season, when fur coats tend to reign supreme.

My F&F Clothing Coat

I was sent the very stylish and warm Chevron stripe Blanket coat from F&F Clothing to review. This is very much on-trend at the moment, the blanket style coats and wraps are still a big story, and the boho style prints show that the 1970s style is not going anywhere. When I first saw this coat I just imagined wearing it over jeans and trousers for a more casual look, but I think you can see from the pictures below that this totally lends itself to more formal, glamorous looks too.

This coat is fabulous, very generous in size and so warm and cosy. It looks great worn belted, or just left loose and open. It is no longer available online, but I have still seen it in stores so you will probably be able to find it there. It is perfect for Winter wear, it will keep you snug no matter how chilly it goes.

Are you getting a new Winter Coat this year? What sort do you choose?

F&F New Season Picks

The latest drop from F&F, fresh for Autumn 15, is now arriving in stores, and the 70s influence is apparent. Called Modern Retro, the collection is full of wide legged trousers, suede, fringes and muted colours that come straight from the decade that has had a style re-evaluation in recent times.

The collection is rather lovely, I see an influence from the cool retro looks of Rosie Fortescue and Millie Mackintosh in the use of faux fur and wide brimmed hats. Many of the trends from last summer are still here, but have been remoulded for the colder weather Autumn/Winter brings. So we are still seeing fabulous cullotes, both in block colour and floral print. Those blanket oversized scarves that Burberry made so popular last year are also back, offering literally acres of warmth in a very stylish way (although I still get flashes of Clint Eastwood as ‘The man with no name’ when I wear them…)

F&F always deliver on style and this season is no exception. My favourite pieces are the buckle effect dress that comes in navy (pictured below) and burnt orange. I love the idea of the burnt orange with suede, stack heeled boots.

I also love the culottes. I think these look great worn with knee high boots underneath, or with tights worn underneath with 70s style Mary Janes. These are great as they can be dressed up with a camisole or heels, or made comfy and cosy with a chunky Arran style knit.
