Golden Globes 2024 – Fave Looks

Last night saw the first ‘big’ awards ceremony of what is awards season, with the 81st Golden Globes being presented. The Golden Globes is always seen as a great pointer to what could win big at the Oscars, and this year all the talk was about the highly anticipated competition between the two big films of the ‘Barbieheimer’ Summer, Barbie and Oppenheimer. If the showing last night is to be repeated, then Barbie, as wonderful and glorious as it was, is in danger of being completed smashed in the awards state by the also brilliant, but more worthy Oppenheimer, which won big last night.

Of course, if we’re being honest, these award ceremonies are absolutely tedious to watch (unless they’re being presented by someone totally irreverent like Ricky Gervais), and what really interests us mere mortals is what the hottest celebrities will be wearing on the red carpet. Last night was no exception, and there were some really lovely dresses on parade. True, there were some complete shockers, with Billie Eilish definitely winning the weirdest of all outfits, and there were also a lot of flesh on display, with lace, skin and bead style, barely there dresses worn by Florence Pugh, Hannah Waddington et al.

But there were beautiful pieces of drama from the likes of Rosamund Pike who was so amazing in Saltburn this year, best actress winner Lily Gladstone and Angela Basset, whilst Margot Robbie kept that Barbie theme going with a glorious, glamorous pink dress, whilst Taylor Swift gave the red carpet vibes of Kylie Minogue’s Absinthe Fairy from Moulin Rouge in a gorgeous green dress.
