Golden Globes – looks and trends 2016
Last night saw the first red carpet proper of awards season, when the Golden Globes took place. This post is dedicated to the trends of the night, which saw deep, plunging cleavage being one of the key looks on the night, as Halston style necklines reigned supreme.
Best dressed on the night for me was the exquisite JLo, who moved away from the nude, barely there dresses of last season, to full on, vintage style Hollywood glamour, in a dress she described as ‘mustardy’. It was a beautiful look by Giambattista Valli and made JLo stand out from the all the flesh on display. America Ferreira went for a dress in a similar shade, but I was not so keen on this look due to the high neckline.
Other looks that I loved on the night included the enchanting Saoirse Ronan, who was fresh and pretty in Yves Saint Laurent couture and Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton. Amy Adams delighted me by opting for orange Versace that was sassy and sexy. I loved Olivia Wilde in steaming hot Michael Kors, 70s influenced and perfect, although I think she needed to have a word with hubby Jason Sudukis, who just looked an idiot in trainers on the red carpet.
There were some looks that didn’t work for me. Rooney Mara has a perfect face and her make up was impeccable, but the dress looked like she’d had a run in with a dog on the way out the door. Eva Longoria, usually so glam and sexbomb, was wearing what can only be described as Amish chic, with the double bows and flowers on the hips just looking garish and managing to make Eva look frumpy. Kate Hudson flashed the flesh in Michael Kors, and yes, the abs are perfect, for frankly, I’m sick of seeing them, and wish she could do something else. Cate Blanchett will split opinions, but I think she looked like Constance Bennett from the 1930s in her Givenchy gown, simply elegant and beautiful.
Ultimately, I think Golden Globes 2016 will be remembered as the one where a lot of the female guests took the event title super seriously and got their Golden Globes out. The biggest trend of 2016? Probably tit tape if this is anything to go by.

Stunning dresses. Kate Winslet always looks classic and beautiful. I love Eva Green’s dress too – just beautiful.
I was reading about Ricky Gervais’ commentary today, he certainly knows how to create publicity lol.

Gosh I didn’t recognise JLo. Not because of the lack of flesh on display, but facially she looks really different. For me though, the winner in the style stakes is Eva Green. In typical French style she oozes sophistication. Tx
