Happy 10th Birthday Harvey Nichols Birmingham!
Today is a very special day. Harvey Nichols is celebrating 10 wonderful years of providing its supreme style to Birmingham. Tonight will see a very special party to celebrate the birthday, with the glitterati from fashion, television/radio and sport in attendance. I will bring you lots of photographs from the event, along with a super party video. But, in the meantime, to whet your appetite, I thought it would be nice to look at my picks from the current Harvey Nichols collection in order to show just why this store is so important to the second city.
Fashion-Mommy’s Picks from the Nicks!
How beautiful is this vintage inspired dress from Lily Allen’s ‘Lucy in Disguise’ Label. With an exquisite glitter bodice, this is just a supremely gorgeous gown that has echoes of 1940s Hollywood.
Nothing screams Autumn/Winter more than tartan. Nothing screams McQueen more than tartan. This McQ dress was one of my favourites from the Fashion Night Out fashion show. I just love its flirty shape.
This Michael Kors dress is just amazing. Shiny, body con and super sexy, this is the sort of dress that is just MADE for Christmas parties!
A definite highlight of the year for me was the Markus Lupfer trunk show. I’m a huge fan of his designs, and this jumper is still the absolute top of my wishlist.
Harvey Nichols has a reputation for new and exciting brands. I just love the fun of Wildfox, and as a teenage grunge fan, I just can’t resist the ‘Teen Spirit’ top that is a cheeky take on the Nirvana legend.
Harvey Nichols has an enviable selection of handbags, including a great range of Marc by Marc Jacobs bags.I love the vibrant shade of the Voyage Regine Hobo.
A style classic that was heavily in rotation during Fashions night out was the McQueen skull scarf. I’m rather partial to this purple shade.
Charlotte Olympia is my current shoe fetish. I’m wearing a very good high Street copy of her Paloma satin pumps for the party, but that won’t stop me lusting after the real thing.
More 40s chic comes courtesy of Michael Kors in the shape of this beautiful coat. That collar alone makes this a wardrobe must have.
My final pick (10 for the 10 of course!) is this fabulous Assemblage bath and shower gift set from Bodhi. Harvey Nichols introduced me to this brand through a goodie bag, and I don’t mind admitting that I am now hooked on the fragrances, especially Ylang Ylang Incensa, and the way they leave you skin feeling.
So there you have it. My top ten choices for 10 glorious years. Have a wonderful day and here’s to the next ten years.
