Heat Holders Welly Socks – a perfect stocking filler.
You may remember that last year I got my hubby to review some of the great thermal socks from Heat Holders. He works as a carpenter converting lofts, and during the terribly cold conditions last year, the socks proved to be a godsend, keeping his feet warm and dry even as the temperatures dropped well below zero.
I must admit that I was a little bit jealous of these gorgeous, fluffy, thermal lined socks, and so I was delighted when Heat Holders sent me a pair of their ‘ultimate thermal socks’ in both the regular and Wellington boot variety. I’ve been testing the Welly socks, which have a tog rating of 2.3, seven times warmer than a normal sock, and I have to say I’ve been really, really impressed.
I always plump for Wellington boots in snowy or very wet weather. My son’s school tends to suffer from overflowing drains and flash floods whenever the rain turns heavy. But Wellies, although keeping your feet dry, do not keep them warm, and as they can often gap at the front they can often be very draughty on your legs too, and that is where the Heat Holders come in. The insulating yarn and Chenile turn over cuffs mean that the socks sit snugly under your boots and leave no gap for cold and wind to get in.The other bit of great news is that the socks are also long enough to reach the top of your wellies – and they don’t roll down, leaving unsightly bulk, either.
My Heat Holders came in this gorgeous girly pink colour that is described as Mulberry, but there are other colours available too, including Amethyst and Ruby. I think these make a fabulous stocking filler for anyone who loves wearing their wellies, works outside, does the school run, in fact, almost anyone. At £12, I think these are a little affordable luxury.
