Kate’s Olympic wardrobe – The story so far.
One of the most exciting things about the Olympics from a fashion point of view is that we are going to be seeing a lot of the Duchess of Cambridge, which of course means lots of fab outfits to pour over. Kate has so far been seen in cut price Hobbs, cut price Zara…and CHRISTOPHER KANE! (Cue mega excitement from me!)
On Thursday, during the final Olympic countdown, Kate looked very cool and summery in the ‘Wessex’ dress from Hobbs. This was a typical Kate style dress, nipped in waistband and full-skirted, with a pretty grey and white loose check pattern. The dress was on sale for just £35, but of course had sold out pretty quickly. Kate teamed her look with a pair of espadrilles. Kate’s shoes are almost a sign that signifies summer, when the espadrilles appear it is safe to assume that London is feeling the heat. This particular pair is from Pied a Terre and cost £80. Kate wore the natural shade, but they are also available in black, green, navy and red.

Kate’s next outfit was more casual, but no less bargainous. She wore a pair of Zara jeans in cobalt blue to welcome the Olympic torch to Buckingham Palace. She teamed this with some rather high Stuart Weitzman wedges. It has been rumoured that the Zara jeans were another sale purchase, costing just £18, and the colour looked just amazing yet again on Kate.

Kate’s outfit for the opening ceremony was by a designer we’ve all been hoping that Kate would wear. This was a truly breathtaking Christopher Kane custom-made coat-dress in silk satin, in the most beautiful ice blue shade. This was a straight fitting design, with a neat fitted belt and long sleeves. I totally loved this and don’t think that Kate could’ve made a better choice – a piece of bespoke couture from one of Britain’s hottest designers on what proved to be the most amazing night in recent memory.
With more Kate appearances expected throughout the games – we can look forward to many more outfits to savour. I can’t wait!
