The Sports personality of the year awards are always a clear sign that it is nearly Christmas, and this year the ceremony was more exciting than ever. It was a case of going for gold for Duchess Kate at the Olympics opening ceremony when she opted for a glorious brocade/lace coat in the subtlest of gold shades. Perhaps giving her support for another gold rush for Team GB, Kate wore a beautiful coat/dress from Day Birger et Mikkelson that she had worn as long ago as 2006, and has recycled almost every year since. I blame Bradley Wiggins. It seems the Mod cyclist has inspired a whole generation to get on their bikes. Everywhere you look at the moment there are people jumping out of their armchairs, grabbing some serious lycra and a whole range of snazzy helmets and going for a bike ride. Olympic Closing Ceremony – Spice Girls and the Supers
The most amazing two weeks I can remember has now come to an end, and we are left with just wonderful memories. But what memories! And for fashion fans, there was a final, unforgettable treat with the reformed Spice Girls, and the stunning appearance of the British Supermodels dressed in an array of gold outfits which showcased the best of British design. The Spice Girls whipped up a storm, performing two of my favourite Spice tracks – ‘Wannabee’ and ‘Spice up your Life’.
