If you want to choose a last minute Christmas gift that has history and heritage behind it, then you need to pay a visit to Liberty, or at least to the Liberty London website if you can’t make it to the stunning, Tudor facade, store that dominates Great Malborough Street in London.
Liberty print has been an iconic design classic since the Victorian era, when it first emerged as part of the Arts and Crafts movement. Since then the iconic prints have appeared on numerous items, some predictable (scarves are the perfect place to see such glorious prints), some just totally inspired (Doc Marten boots are the strangest place, but do merge to British design classics.
This year there are some beautiful, new prints featuring the Christmas Tree of Life design that is both seasonal and timeless, as well as gorgeous watches with Liberty print straps that range from chintz to psychedelic. And my favourite Liberty piece, the one I couldn’t resist tweeting about, the impossibly cute miniature suitcases, the peacock style print being an absolute must.
So this Christmas, give a little bit of heritage and classic British style.
