Maxi dress style – Perfect for Summer
The calendar says that it is Summer, but standing outside today watching Joe play football in biting wind, I’m not so sure. But one thing I am sure of is that it is maxi dress season. Confused, well let me explain.
Maxi dresses have become a real summer staple, one that suit woman of all shapes and sizes, and work for pretty much every occasion. You can buy them in regular, petite and plus size fits, in styles that come from strapless to long sleeved, in heavier jersey to the lightest of cotton. And this is what makes them perfect for English Summer, as well as throwing in that holiday suitcase.
A maxi will work for a wedding, a summer garden party, or thrown over a bikini or swimsuit at the beach. They are perfect for holiday evening wear as they look great with jewelled sandals and a clutch bag, but add a blazer or a lightweight cardigan and they can take you smartly into most work situations too. A stretchy jersey vest style version works for a day at the park with the kids. Wear a stripy version and a straw hat and you are all set for summer in the city. The boho styles loved by everyone from Kate Moss to Rihanna cover all manner of sins with their long sleeves and ethnic prints, and Kylie Minogue shows how well they can work for petite girls too.
Here are some of my favourite maxi styles, along with some suggestions on how to get the look too.

I’m a huge fan of a maxi dress- the bonus of being tall! I think this Autumn I’d quite like one with sleeves for a change.
