Boden: The New Icons Collection Is Here

Over the last few years Boden has had a reputation for style based on the best of British. Collections have been represented with campaigns that have included British icons, from red telephone boxes and black cabs, to the landmarks of London life. I still have my London print umbrella from a few seasons away, and totally love the iconic nod to British style, both past and present.

But the latest icons collection couldn’t be farther away from rain swept, windy Britain. Taking it’s inspiration from the colours and designs of the Far East, Boden Icons for Summer 2018 is entitled ‘Wonders of the World’. Boden say of the collection:-

Our ICONS collection returns, drawing
inspiration from the Far East. Traditional printing
methods blend with hand-sourced silks and
stop-in-your-tracks details to create timeless
designs you’ll treasure forever.

The collection features trousers, tunics and dresses, and for me it is the stunning dresses that really stand out. Imagine you were raiding the wardrobe of 1960s icons Talitha Pol, Anita Pallenberg or Verushka, or the Ibiza styles sported by Kate Moss, and you would not be far wrong. The styles combine sumptuous prints tassels, ruffles and blooms, as well as sleeves, proper sleeves that are the godsend of anyone over 35. These dresses are beautiful, grown up and full of style and charm.

Many of the dresses have a strong Japanese influence in terms of their kimono styling. The cool, floaty lines make these perfect Summer holiday pieces, they would not take up a lot of precious room in your suitcase, but would certainly make a real statement when worn, either with strappy sandals in the evening, or with flip flops during the day.

My personal favourites from the collection are the Cornelia Kimono style dress in a stunning shade of jade green, and the Cressida tassel dress which has a real luxurious look..

Esprit Sunglasses from Perfect Glasses

I have a confession to make, I never used to like, or wear sunglasses. I had this idea that I would never find a pair that would suit me, and trying lots of pairs on in various shops seemed to confirm this for me. I instead opted to wear sunhats when I was on holiday, and then just squint in the sun at all other times.

But that was then. Now I am a bit of an addict when it comes to sunnies, it all started with a pair of oversized Michael Kors which I totally fell in love with, and now I have rather a large collection, you could say an addiction, especially when it comes to designer glasses. My most recent addition to the collection has been a pair of Esprit frames that have a very chic, almost retro feel to them.

I got the Esprit frames from Perfect Glasses. Perfect Glasses sells glasses online, these range from prescription sunglasses and regular glasses, to glasses for both men and women. Their range is, quite frankly, huge, and has lots of designer names to tempt, from Benetton and Police, to Calvin Klein and Jimmy Choo. The styles are varied, and include designs that will suit all face shapes and skin types, and you can have both prescription lenses or regular glass/sunglass lenses, allowing everyone to enjoy the fashionable shapes.

Perfect Glasses have got it just right when it comes to ordering and receiving your glasses. Ordering is simple, you just need your prescription, with most glasses coming in single vision, bifocal and multifocals. The website gives all the information about the frame size including nose bridge and frame width, so you can decide if they will fit and suit your face. Despatch can be within 48 hours for simple prescriptions, so you should be able to get your glasses fairly quickly – useful if you have broken your current pair. I also like the fact that you can order online, but if you have further questions or want to take to someone about the frames, there is a phone number where you just need to quote the reference number of the frame.

The glasses are delivered very well protected, my pair come in a glasses case that was then bubble wrapped and double packaged, ensuring that no accident would befall them on route. All glasses also come with a microfibre cloth for cleaning, another useful addition to keep your glasses clean and safe.

My Esprit shades (design Et17823 C565) are just lovely. They have an Ivory embossed frame and a slightly 1950s style shape. The Arms have Esprit at the top – not ostentatious labeling, but instead a stylish touch. They are light and comfortable to wear and have a pretty, girly feel to them.

It has been rather cold lately, but the sun still shines even when the temperatures have dropped, and I find I often wear my glasses when out in the car or watching the football. These glasses look great worn casually, or with a more dressy look. They are beautifully made and of great quality.

With a code that allows you to get many pairs of glasses at half price, you are getting both great style and value with Perfect Glasses. If you are looking for new glasses of any kind, then Perfect Glasses is well worth a look.

Watchshop.com – They Do Sunglasses Too.

Watchshop.com has long been a destination to visit if you were looking for a classy,  designer quality watch, so it is great to be able to report that the company now stocks a range of designer sunglasses, just in time for holiday season. The collection  of 390 styles includes iconic brands like Emporio Armani, Nike, Rayban and Storm, and in both male and female designs, so for people who love their sunglasses (i.e. me), this is a site to bookmark as the temperatures continue to rise.

I love my sunglasses, so when I was asked if I would like to do a review to celebrate the new ranges, there was no hesitation from me. I chose a pair from classic American design house Calvin Klein. Watchshop says of Calvin Klein:-

Calvin Klein eyewear incorporates innovative design details in fashion forward styles and bold colorations. This aspirational eyewear appeals to the urban, creative and independent individual.

I love the slightly vintage style of tortoiseshell glasses, the sort worn in the 1950s by sultry film stars like Sophia Loren and Gina Lollobridgida, so the Calvin Klein Collection CK7964S designs were always going to catch my eye. This design is neat and tidy, rather than the oversized look that took over in the 1960s, and the brown frame, contrasted against the black lenses are a super stylish look. They are also very comfortable to wear for long periods (they’ve been worn a lot this weekend) and look chic when worn with a dressy outfit, as well as worn casually with jeans.

Calvin Klein glasses are always well protected, arriving in a beautiful glasses case that will keep them safe in your handbag or stored at home in a drawer. They also have an official 12 month guarantee, definitely piece of mind when buying such an iconic piece of fashion. Plus, when you buy from Watchshop.com, you get your glasses within 3 days of ordering by free delivery, and they have a 30 day returns policy, just in case you decide the design is not for you, although I don’t think that would happen with this particular pair of glasses – they are just so stylish.
