New Look inspire – A focus on pretty tops
My latest selection of reviews for New Look are focusing on tops, well, a top and a blouse to be more specific. I was super impressed with the style and print from the tube skirt, so I was interested to see if the top selection would be as impressive. With that in mind, I chose something that I would normally choose (a top that was stretchy, with no front buttons) and something that was outside of my comfort zone (a blouse, buttoned down the front). What would the verdict be on the two items?
Inspire Coral Floral Lace Boxy Shirt
As a general rule, I never wear shirts or blouses due to the dreaded puckering at the front, a common enough problem if you have a larger bust. But this one really appealed as it seemed a little looser fitting in the website images, and with a more boxy fit. I decided to step away from the comfort zone and give this one a go. It was not entirely successful if I’m being honest.

This is an absolutely beautiful shirt, with a lovely floral lace, laser style design. It is very reminiscent of the floaty designs of Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2014 , and using the same soft peach colour that was so memorable on the catwalk. I liked the general style, but New Look Inspire is very generous in sizing, and I found this to be too big for me – huge in fact. It was longer than I expected, and when worn over jeans fastened it just looked frumpy and added pounds. So I decided to take some vintage inspiration from my fave fashion decade, the 1950s, and to wear this like Grace Kelly might wear it.

Skirt F&F
Belt Dorothy Perkins
Sandals Clarks
vest underneath Bon Marche
I picked up the peach of the blouse and wore it teamed with a full tulle skirt that had a very similar coloured lining. I added a belt for definition, and a vest top underneath as the top is quite see-thru due to the lace design. Due to the warm weather I was wearing sandals, but I think an animal print kitten heel would be the perfect shoe for this outfit. I really liked the blouse worn this way, I think it plays up to the dressy style of such a beautiful item. It is now currently in the sale for just £10, my advice would be to order in two sizes to try at home, or maybe size down.

Look 2 – Inspire Navy and Neon Pink Textured Floral Print Boxy top
I totally fell in love with the stunning print of this top, especially the neon accents, which I think make it a little more edgy than your usual floral print. This is a shape I’m quite comfortable with, and, although this is a style I think would look great with jeans, I loved the way it had been styled on the website, with a pencil skirt, so I decided to try my own version of this look.

The fabric of this top is just lovely, nice and stretchy due to the 5% elastane. That said, again I really needed a size smaller, due to the generous sizing, but with this top, I think the addition of a belt simply solved this problem.

dress (worn as skirt) Scarlett and Jo
Bag Zatchels
Shoes F&F
Belt Primark
The colours in the top are really vibrant and eye-catching, and there are so many shades that you can pick out when choosing what to team the top with. I opted for neon greens, but love the idea of wearing this with a pink pencil skirt for a fun look. Although I initially decided to wear this with jeans, I think it is smart enough with a skirt to wear anywhere. I wore it to a bloggers event and it got lots of lovely comments.

You can view all current New Look tops and blouses here, with many in the current Summer sale.
