Outfit posts – Christmas and New Year 2014

One of my favourite things about the Christmas and New Year Period is the opportunity to get dressed up . I am a magpie at the best of times, loving sparkly, pretty things, and Christmas is the perfect opportunity to either buy something glittery and new, or to delve deep into the wardrobe in search of those things that we only seem to wear when the Christmas tree is up and the man in red is on his way.

This year I’ve been lucky enough to have had a very busy festive period, so I thought I would share some of my favourite outfits I have had chance to wear over this festive period. Where possible I have shared a link, especially as many of the pieces are now in those ‘January’ sales – can I grrr that fact?

I really hope you had a good Christmas and New Year, and would love it if you blogged and could share your link to your Christmas outfits too, there’s nothing I love better than browsing someone’s wardrobe.

An afternoon at the Pantomime

For a trip to the Birmingham Hippodrome, I got a bargain dress from Wallis that I had my eye on for some time. It was in festive red and had a gorgeous, brocade style print, plus I loved the simple, fitted shape. I teamed it with pull on boots from M&S, and a warm coat from ASOS Curve from a couple of seasons ago, as we planned a trip around the Christmas market once the show was finished.

Christmas Eve

I said on my Facebook account that if you can’t dress like a fairy on Christmas Eve, then you can never dress like a fairy. I love this princess skirt from M&Co so much, the netting underneath gives it a total princess feel, and the print is so beautiful. I teamed it with a camisole, also from M&Co, and an old pair of peep toes from Roberto Vianni.

Christmas Day

A smattering of bottle green sequins from Dorothy Perkins, and my new Biba bag – a gift from my father-in-law and already a firm favourite. The skirt is no longer in stock in green, but there is a bronze version still in stock and in the current sale. Jumper was a Christmas gift too, from Primark, it has a cute fluffy collar.

The Tiger who came to tea and a trip to an Art Gallery

Over the Christmas period we went to the Birmingham Town Hall to see The Tiger Who came to Tea, and after the performance, we popped across to the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery to check out the new gallery housing the Staffordshire Hoard. A new top from George added a little sparkle to jeans, coat and boots – it was a super cold day!

New Years Eve

With a young child, New Years Eve is a much quieter night than it has been in the past, but the fact that you are seeing out a year, and a new one in, is still an excuse for a little dressing up. My skirt is my new fave, from Dorothy Perkins in thin silver lame, I plan on wearing this come Summer with sandals and a camisole top. For new year, I opted for a fluffy jumper and silver necklace from Primark.
