Primark opens in New Square

Hands Up who shops in Primark (a million hands fly up). Let’s be honest, we all shop in Primark, or Primarni as it is affectionately known, at some time or other. Whether we source our whole wardrobes from its amazing budget finds, or add to our accessories collections with great shoes and bags, or simply pop in from time to time because we can’t resist a bargain, Primark is a destination on most of our shopping lists.

Today saw the exciting opening of a brand new Primark store, in the fabulous New Square centre in West Bromwich. I was lucky enough to have been invited to take a sneaky look around the store before the crowds descended (and believe me, they were out in force, queuing a full hour before the 9am opening). So, with fellow bloggers Emily Jayne and Sunni from WardrobeMag I made a very early morning trip to West Brom.  And I have to admit to being very, very impressed by what I have seen.

Primark is well known for its fast, affordable, and up-to-the-minute ranges, and this season is no different. All the key looks you saw on the catwalks in February have been translated for the High Street. There are items with leather look sleeves and pockets, acres of tartan, fluffy knits in sorbet shades, and a shoe collection that embraces everything from the kitten heel to the sexiest skyscrapers around. Grunge is still around in over-sized knits and plaid shirts, whereas the evening wear embraces lace, draping and slinky tube dresses.

I know Primark is going to be a huge success in West Bromwich, just from looking at the crowds who turned out in force this morning. With New Square becoming a great shopping destination outside Birmingham, things are definitely looking really bright for West Brom.
