Restaurants To Try 2023

There has never been a better, or more important time, to try a new restaurant. The tough, economic climate is making it difficult for new food start ups to survive, and even those that have been long established are, quite frankly, struggling. So now is the time to try something new, or to support an old favourite, to ensure it has a future. And why not treat yourself. As much as I love curling up with a takeaway, there really is nothing like getting dressed up to eat food at a swish restaurant, or trying a Michelin starred eatarie just to see what all the fuss is about. Even sharing a family occasion with a meal to celebrate a birthday or anniversary is both a lovely way to pass the time, and a great way to support local talent such as Firedog,  one of the great Cockfosters restaurants.

Square Meal UK is the website to look at if you are trying to find somewhere near and interesting to eat, either with friends or family. It features everything from restaurants and pubs, to fine dining and private dining experiences. Here are some of the places I want to visit in 2023.

Albert Schloss Birmingham

This Bavarian bar and restaurant is named after German-born Prince Albert, consort to Queen Victoria, so it is quite fitting that it is situated just around the corner from her statue , in Birmingham’s Chamberlain Square. This is one of the most soft after eateries in Birmingham, so I’m ashamed to say I’ve yet to visit. The German themed bar and restaurant also has regular live entertainment, making it a very popular venue.
I really want to try the breakfast experience, which has a boho brunch option on Saturdays and Sundays in Birmingham, and is available all week around at other venues (in Manchester and Liverpool).
The Lobster Pot, Barmouth
This daytime restaurant/cafe is already a real favourite of mine, one that I visit every time I venture to Cardigan Bay. To put it quite simply, this is my fave place to go for fresh seafood and the perfect ‘catch of the day’. The Lobster Pot is small, and is situated on the Barmouth sea front. I live to eat prawns, and theirs are perfectly cooked in garlic and chilli, whilst for my hubby, the moules et frites are just perfect, especially when they are available on the daily specials board.
People also flock there for the seafood pots of mixed fish, prawns and seafood sticks, which are available to eat on the seafront, which is pretty perfect whichever way you look at it.
Afternoon Tea at Coombe Abbey
Afternoon tea is one of my favourite treats, one that can be enjoyed with either your partner, or a friend, or is a great way to treat mom for Mother’s Day.
The afternoon tea at Coombe Abbey is one that I really want to try due to word of mouth feedback saying just how good it is, and in the most beautiful of settings. You can enjoy some time around the grounds and the gardens, before retiring to the Garden Room Restaurant for the traditional small sandwiches and scones and cream (Cornish style for me in case you are wondering.)

Sharing is caring!

Welcome to the world of fashion-mommy, a world of fashion, lifestyle, theatre and fun. Enjoy the ride.
