Black Hooded Drawstring Cropped Puffer Jacket From Femme Luxe
It is almost the end of February, and Spring is definitely in the air. This means that we can think about ditching the heavy coats, the scarves and the woolly hats, and giving our wardrobes a Spring update, But the coming of Spring doesn’t mean ditching the coats altogether, just opting for something a little thinner, or a little shorter, but definitely something waterproof.
Femme Luxe, famous for it’s women’s loungewear, and those slinky black dresses, has started to add to its Spring collections, with one of the key pieces being what might just be the perfect cropped anorak. The Stacey black hooded drawstring cropped puffa jacket comes in a range of sizes from XS to XL (which is around a size UK 16), and also comes in a beige colourway. This is a perfect everyday coat that still offers a level of warmth for those chilly Spring days, as well as being waterproof which makes it great for those March winds/April showers. The hood gives it a cosy look, and is not too tight to make this uncomfortable, whilst the collar looks great worn stood up, and the pockets are both useful for holding your phone or a key, and also practical for those of us who love anything with pockets.
This is a really stylish, hero piece, the sort of jacket that is practical for everyday wear, is comfortable to wear, and will get lots of wear during the changeable Spring season. The fact that it is black means it will go with just about any colour you choose to wear, and that it is a design that won’t really show dirt or stains that easily – great if you are surrounded by young children. This is the perfect design to throw on when you are doing the food shop, or taking the kids to the park, or just walking your dog – it will keep you warm and dry. It is also a great throw on over gym wear if you are heading for a workout, particularly if you are just running to the gym from the car park. (See how Femme Luxe have styled this above.)
So how else could you style this?
The simplest way to style this jacket/anorak is with skinny jeans of any colour. I chose black, as black skinnies are my personal favourite, and they obviously match well with the black of the anorak. I also added a cotton long sleeved top that you can just see peeping out of the bottom of the jacket due to the cropped length (I think a long skinny ribbed jumper would also look good peering from below the jacket.) For this look, as it has a more Springlike feel, I added a pair of M&S ballerina flats, but this would also work well with trainers, or boots for cooler days.
In terms of sizing, this is a comfy fit. I wear a size 16 in coats and tops and find the XL to be a good fit for size 16, I can easily do up the zip and get my hands in my pockets in this size. The black matte fabric gives this a more stylish feel than the shiny nylon these jackets often come in, and I like the little style details like the drawstring neckline with metal detailing. This is machine washable, making it another practical buy.
