Reviewed – Heat Holders – A total wonder sock!

I have discovered my first Christmas stocking filler that I am going to get for all the men in my life (hubby, dad, brother etc for those who were beginning to wonder..). This is a product that is both practical and affordable, but feels like one of life’s little luxuries. Let me introduce you to the Heat Holders socks.

Heat Holders have been marketed as the ultimate thermal sock. With a tog rating of 2.3, Heat Holders are almost twice as warm as normal thermal socks and claim to hold warm air close to the skin, keeping feet warmer for longer. Using my builder husband Peter as a guinea pig, I tested out the Heat Holders to check out if these really were the equivalent of a hot water bottle for your tootsies.

The simple answer has to be a resounding yes. Peter’s actual comment was that this is like working in the warmest pair of slippers possible. Your feet feel just so cosy and warm, even when the day turns out to be cold and wet. With a thick furry lining, and a warm woolen outer layer, these have a real luxurious feel, making them great to wear underneath work boots and wellies, and a particularly great choice if you happen to work outside. And the elastication around the top of the sock means that they do not keep rolling down the leg, instead holding the leg snugly without actually cutting into the leg.

But these are not just socks for workwear. They are great for people who enjoy country walks and rambling, those who enjoy camping. My dad attends football matches in all weathers and these will be just perfect in those cold stands come January when we hardly experience daytime. If you have a fisherman in the family – these are a fabulous gift, and I’m seriously considering getting a pair for my snowboard crazy brother-in-law.

Heat Holders come in a range of colours and patterns, and also have an extra long leg fitting that are perfect underneath wellington boots. I also love that they do these in girlie colours for us ladies, and that there is an actual Welly sock that I so need for school run in the snow and rain (yes, I’m getting prepared!) Even children have been catered for, with a children’s version, again perfect for under wellies, that starts from size 9.
