Reviewed – John Rocha mirror printed prom dress for Debenhams
January has been a time to try to shake off all those Christmas calories, and I have been trying numerous ways to do this. From lots of brisk walks during the school run, which seems to be getting longer and more arduous during this spell of bad weather, to considering the benefits of XLS Medical as an aid to weight loss, I’ve been trying all sorts of ways to shift some of those extra pounds. And it seems to have worked, I’ve already dropped a dress size in just a few weeks, something I’m quite proud of.
So, when I was offered the chance to choose a Debenhams dress as a gift, I decided to choose a style that I wouldn’t normally opt for, a prom dress style. And when I saw the Rocha John Rocha pink floral mirror printed prom dress, I fell instantly in love with it. It was just a perfect Mary Kantrantzou style, brightly coloured, with an interesting, digital print style design on the front.
This dress has a very flattering fit and flare style, with fitted, cinched in waistband, and then a flared skirt. The stiffish nature of the cotton means this dress has a natural shape, which in turn helps you achieve an hourglass style shape too. The back zip is concealed, giving this a classy, neat edge, whilst a fully lined skirt stops this style from riding up when you sit down. And of course, the print is so eye-catching, and contains a range of colours that help you to match this to a whole range of accessories of different shades.
I teamed this dress with opaque tights and chunky heels, but think these could be easily abandoned in Summer and wedge sandals could be added. A cute cardigan can also give this look a 1950s feel, and is a good idea, if, like me, you are wearing your dress on a snowy day.
Rocha John Rocha is always one of my favourite ranges from Debenhams as I think it carries a range of beautiful pieces that both fit and flatter. This dress is no exception.

John Rocha is one of my favourite designers. I love the range he does for Debenhams. And goodness, aren’t you commited, modelling a sleevless dress in the snow, brrrrr?!

Honestly, I was outside in this dress for just a couple of minutes…and I am quite hot blooded. But yes, it was freezing!
