Sunday Style: A New Look Summer

A shopping trip with my sister last week gave me the perfect opportunity to check out what New Look had in store, and even a chance to try a couple of dresses on as they had reopened their changing rooms.

New Look is always one of my favourite stores on the High Street due to having a great range of looks that also incorporate Plus size and Tall ranges. They are one of the most affordable stores on the High Street, and it is rare I leave there empty handed. I also love their sales, which offer some great savings on stuff that you will be wearing straight away.

This season, New Look has tapped into the key trend that is gingham, but has added a modish appeal to it in the form of a must have blazer that looks incredible teamed with a t-shirt, denim shorts or cropped jeans. They have a brilliant range of dresses that range from maxi to midi, but they have also taken into account British Summer’s day adding long sleeves to their cool boho style dresses. Red has been a key colour, one which is not always considered as a summer option, but certainly calls to mind sunsets and strawberries, both key parts of my British Summertime.

As well as red, we have the options of lots of different pastel, almost ice cream shades that have a more traditional Summer feel. Pastel plimsolls that would go with anything, and a pretty classic style sandal that comes in a wide range of colours are the perfect footwear – give the heels a break this Summer and let your feet get comfortable.

Then there is classic white. A crisp white cotton top or blouse is an absolute Summer staple, made to be worn with shorts and tan sandals. The New Look version has a slight Victoriana feel and is beautiful, a classic piece that you will wear this Summer, next Summer and the many Summer’s that came after that.

And finally there is a twist on the Breton. A classic navy and white striped top is given an update with a slight frilled sleeve. I would love this teamed with this Summer’s red, but it will also be a great transitional piece when we come to Autumn and the warm weather starts to fade.

Have you popped into New Look recently? Did anything take your eye from the latest ranges?
