Gourmet Burger Kitchen Grill Warming
Last night, my family and I were very lucky to attend the grill warming at Gourmet Burger Kitchen in The Mailbox, Birmingham. The restaurant had been closed for a period of time for a £350,000 exterior and interior refurbishment, and opens officially today (Friday 13th March). The Grill Warming was an opportunity to check out the new improvements in decor, whilst trying out the delicious menu. I have to say, we had a fantastic time. The restaurant was buzzing with atmosphere, with the new decor featuring dark wood paneling and gorgeous antique effect lighting giving the whole place a retro feel that was warm and inviting. I loved the monkey…

Everyman Cinema opens in The Mailbox
Everyman Cinema’s offer something a little different to the average cinematic experience. Rather than the usual, flip down seating with very little leg room, the Everyman cinemas offer luxurious, sofa style seating with plenty of leg room, mini tables for your drinks, and even footrests. It’s like watching movies from the comfort of your own front room, except you are watching the latest films in perfect definition on a huge screen. I love the fact that we now have an Everyman Cinema in Birmingham’s Mailbox, and on Wednesday I was lucky enough to be invited to try out the Everyman Experience with an advanced screening of ‘Still Alice’. The Mailbox…

But the new show, ‘Magical Ice Festival’ is causing thousands of children up and down the country to feel almost dizzy in anticipation. For this is the first show featuring scenes and characters from the huge worldwide hit, the phenomenon that is ‘Frozen.’ Yes, sisters Anna and Elsa, along with reindeer Sven and that hilarious snowman Olaf, will be taking to the ice as they journey up…

Lasan – A jewel in Birmingham’s food crown
It makes me totally ashamed, as a foodie, to admit that, until yesterday, I had never tried the fragrant delights of Lasan, the restaurant judged by Gordon Ramsey to be the best local restaurant in the UK. Well, it is safe to say that although this was my first visit, it will most definitely not be my last. The food, service and setting were all, quite simply, perfection. Lasan is situated just off Birmingham’s St Paul’s Square. The restaurant has a cool, contemporary decor with large picture windows helping the light to flood in. There are a selection of tables of varying sizes, certainly making this a wonderful place to…

Strictly Come Dancing Live Wows the Crowds in Birmingham
I can honestly not think of a better way to spend a rather cold afternoon, than enjoying the endless delights of Strictly Come Dancing, performed live on it’s arena tour. For sheer glamour, fun and family entertainment, it is hard to beat, as a packed house at Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena discovered yesterday. Presented by the lovely Zoe Ball, and with a new judging panel that now included 2008 champions Camilla Dallerup and Tom Chambers (swoon and double swoon – read my previous post to find out why), the live show combines the best of the television series – the most accomplished dancers (in this case reigning champion Caroline Flack, the…
