LOUISE IS HAIR-RAISING AWARENESS FOR KIDS’ CHARITIES
It’s not very often you get a press release that makes you wonder with awe about people who really want to make a difference to someone elses life. I received one today from the lovely Faith Brotherston, who told me that this story wasn’t really about fashion, although it does involve someone with beautiful long hair, and the Birmingham super salon Puro Hair. This is instead an inspirational story of how one young woman’s much admired locks are going to help children suffering from dreadful cancers. It was also a tale of how Fashion-Mommy readers could help the lady in question to raise money to give very poorly children special treats through…

With a host of lovely Brum fashion bloggers, Laura from The Doll on Fashion, Bhav from Wardrobe Mag, Emily Jayne from Emily Jayne Image and Jen from…

Selfridges Birmingham enjoy Big Beauty Bang
Thursday night saw Selfridges Birmingham in party mood as it started a Summer celebration of all things British with the Big Beauty Bang. This was a night dedicated to all things pampering as make-overs, champagne and goodie bags dominated the proceedings. The atmosphere was a little bit carnival (think hoola hooping Cabaret ladies), a little bit fairground (the most amazing grabbing machine…more later) and very, very British – Union Jack Pommery Champagne anyone? Every beauty counter was offering free gifts with purchases, with key make-up artists also in attendance offering make-overs and beauty guidance. It was lovely to see Cesar Santos performing his cosmetic wizardry for Giorgio Armani, and I…

Aegon Classic Ladies day Launch at Hotel Du Vin
Fashion and sport were perfectly fused last week for the launch of the Aegon Classic’s first tennis ladies day, held in Birmingham’s beautiful Hotel Du Vin. A mixture of bloggers, stylish ladies and gents, and sporty professionals were invited to hear all about the event, which promises to be a new highlight on Birmingham’s fashion and sports calendar. There was a chat about the links between sport and fashion by Muireen Carey-Campbell from the blog Bangs and a Bun, whilst Claudia Santillo and Benjamin from the Benjamin Ryan salon were on hand to demonstrate the sports influence on this season’s hair styles. Guests were also given a preview of the…

Harvey Nichols Spring fashion show…Can I have it all please?
Last Saturday saw Harvey Nichols, Birmingham, hold a host of fabulous fashion shows to celebrate the new season. The shows, being held in a fashion theatre on the ground floor of the Mailbox, celebrated all that is new to Harvey Nicks, a mixture of casual daytime and evening glamour. Designers from Malene Birger,Philip Armstrong, McQueen, DKNY and Markus Lupfer were all represented in the show, as was an array of totally gorgeous Louboutins. Scene 1 – Americana The show started with the boys. This was a true summer look, full of cut-off jeans and t-shirts, at least one of which, you wouldn’t wear in front of your grandmother! (See…
