A weekend in Birmingham.
Whether you are a native having a staycation, or a tourist coming to the UK for a vacation, it seems that Birmingham has become one hot choice. A recent survey has put Birmingham in the Top Ten of UK cities for tourists, with people flocking to enjoy the range of restaurants, theatres, cool shopping destinations and iconic buildings. I love Birmingham and am fiercely proud of the new developments and changes that make it such a vibrant city. I’ve put together a little list of things to see and do and places to stay in the second city. Where to stay Birmingham has plenty of great hotels to stay that…

Jackie the Musical thrills audiences at the New Alexandra Theatre
As a child of the 1980s, Saturday meant just one thing, getting my latest copy of Jackie. The magazine that taught a generation everything it needed to know about fashion, beauty and, most importantly love, was literally my Bible as I made the trip towards adolescence. Sadly Jackie is no longer with us, it belonged to a more innocent time, with the last issue leaving the press in 1993. But now its spirit, and sometimes hilarious advice is back with us in the form of a brilliantly realised musical, complete with a musical soundtrack that captures the fun of the days of pinups and Cathy and Clare perfectly. Seasonal Style at the Botanical Gardens
Last week I was a guest of Barques PR at a gorgeous afternoon of food, fizz and seasonal fashion. The Seasonal Style event, which is held annually at Birmingham’s beautiful Botanical Gardens, was a feast of the best fashion and beauty around, with a style presentation by the lovely Beth Goodrham, and beauty demonstrations by Bobbi Brown’s leading artist Amy Conway. Add into this a host of stalls with exhibitors including Pai Skincare, Rachel Simpson shoes and Jo Malone, and you have a most glamorous afternoon. The day started with champagne and a browse around the stalls. John Lewis was a supporter of the event, and representatives from the…

Pizza and Cider at The Stable, Birmingham
The sun was shining on the hottest day of the year, so what better time to take part in a special blogger event at one of Birmingham’s newest food destinations? The Stable specialises in pizza and pies, all of which contain local produce as much as possible, and have fabulous, locally inspired names. The Stable group also serve a great array of ciders to accompany your food, making dining a delicious rustic experience. The Stable is a cool, industrial style venue, with benches and neon signs (my favourite proclaiming that this is Birmingham’s Cathedral to Cider). The menu is unusual and fun, with dishes like ‘The Bournville Bantam’ and ‘TheLonghorn…

McDonalds Blogger Event, Birmingham
Sometimes, as a blogger, you receive an invitation to an event that is just too good to miss. It may include Champagne Cocktails, meeting celebrities, amazing fashion shows, or it may invite you to make your own Big Mac. Yes, I did say make your own Big Mac. That was the event that I took part in last week at the Small Heath branch of McDonalds, and I have to say it is one of the most fun events I had been to in a long time – and the Big Mac was delicious. McDonalds has been around in the UK since 1974 (in Woolwich London, the restaurant is still…
