How can one dress look so different – Pippa Middleton and Lindsey Lohan

Kim Kardashian got married last weekend, and amongst all the chatter about the three wedding dresses, the black and white theme and the multitude of famous celebrity guests,  one topic seemed to stand out. Was Lindsey Lohan wearing Pippa Middleton‘s dress?

Now of course, I don’t mean Pippa’s actual dress – that would just be plain silly. But the car crash that is Lindsey Lohan was actually wearing a version of Pippa’s full length green evening dress, the one she had worn for the evening reception at Buckingham Palace on the Royal Wedding day. And boy, did the dress look different on Lindsey.

For a start, the Alice Temperley dress as worn by LiLo was white, the sort of bright, sparkling white that should be reserved for brides and Jean Harlow – no-one else. And the dress that had looked so elegant on Pippa appeared so trashy on Lindsey, with her rather large boobs seeming to strain  to get out of the silk material. The look wasn’t helped by white blonde hair, and strange facial features which pointed to collagen, botox or some kind of surgery.

It doesn’t really help matters that Lindsey no  longer resembles Lindsey. There is no trace of the gorgeous, curvy redhead who thrilled with her acting and enchanted with her looks in Mean Girls, now Lindsey has the overblown, cartoonish looks of a porn star, and wearing a dress made famous by the gorgeous Miss Middleton, at such a high  profile event as the Royal wedding doesn’t really help matters. Comparisons are not really going to be kind to Lindsey.

Alice Temperley have said they did not know that Lindsey was going to wear the Pippa dress, it had not come from them directly.

I sincerely hope that Lindsey cleans up her act, and resumes an acting career that once showed such promise. In the meantime, she may do as well as to steer clear of Pippa’s wardrobe!

Kate’s dress is on show – but Queen calls display horrid!

The press got their first view of the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress today when the Sarah Burton design went on display in the Ballroom of Buckingham Palace, but although the beauty of the dress and the rest of display pleased most spectators, it seems the Queen wasn’t particularly pleased, calling the staging of the dress ‘Horrid’ .

The dress has been displayed on a headless mannequin, with the veil and Halo tiara sort of suspended in space, which the Queen expressed as being creepy! Kate, who was viewing the dress with the Queen was more tactful, saying it was displayed to show a 3D effect.

Kate looked fabulous in another white dress, whilst the Queen wore a pretty watered silk dress. I was struck that in this picture the Duchess seems to be morphing into Katie Holmes, or maybe it is the other way around.

This is a great opportunity to see the beautiful dress up close, although some commentators have said the white dummy makes it harder to see all the detailing on the neckline. Personally, I think a Tussaud’s style mannequin may have been more to people’s taste, but then that might have been considered a little bit cheesy! I’ll get my own chance to make up my mind about the display next Friday. I’m counting down the days!

Kate’s wedding dress – the countdown is almost over.

The excitement level is growing by the day, in just over seven days I am going to Buckingham Palace to view THAT dress! That glorious Sarah Burton creation that made us all gasp at its beauty on the April day. Yes, Fashion-Mommy is off to see the Duchess of Cambridge‘s wedding dress.

The dress, along with the veil, Halo tiara and shoes, is going to be the star attraction when Buckingham Palace opens its doors to the public on July 23rd for its annual summer opening. Kate’s Robinson Pelham earrings, a wedding day gift from her parents, will also be on display, along with a special film showing Sarah Burton talking about the making of the dress. All these factors make a visit to the palace a must for both Kate fans and McQueen fans.

The interest in everything Kate shows no signs of abating. Many of the pre-bookable tickets for Saturday and Sunday entry have already sold out, with lengthy queues expected for those longing to see a bit of royal magic. Half a million people are expected to visit the palace this summer, more than ever before.

One sad note is that the Sarah Burton dress that launched Pippa Middleton onto the nations consciousness will not be on display. That dress belongs to Pippa herself, and she even hasn’t been asked to  display it, or has declined the opportunity to  display it.

I am really excited about seeing Kate’s dress. I think it was a truly stunning creation that exceeded all expectation in its simplicity and its supreme beauty. To get the opportunity to see it up close is an amazing privilege, one which I am counting down the days for.
