Kate’s wedding dress – the countdown is almost over.
The excitement level is growing by the day, in just over seven days I am going to Buckingham Palace to view THAT dress! That glorious Sarah Burton creation that made us all gasp at its beauty on the April day. Yes, Fashion-Mommy is off to see the Duchess of Cambridge‘s wedding dress.
The dress, along with the veil, Halo tiara and shoes, is going to be the star attraction when Buckingham Palace opens its doors to the public on July 23rd for its annual summer opening. Kate’s Robinson Pelham earrings, a wedding day gift from her parents, will also be on display, along with a special film showing Sarah Burton talking about the making of the dress. All these factors make a visit to the palace a must for both Kate fans and McQueen fans.
The interest in everything Kate shows no signs of abating. Many of the pre-bookable tickets for Saturday and Sunday entry have already sold out, with lengthy queues expected for those longing to see a bit of royal magic. Half a million people are expected to visit the palace this summer, more than ever before.
One sad note is that the Sarah Burton dress that launched Pippa Middleton onto the nations consciousness will not be on display. That dress belongs to Pippa herself, and she even hasn’t been asked to display it, or has declined the opportunity to display it.
I am really excited about seeing Kate’s dress. I think it was a truly stunning creation that exceeded all expectation in its simplicity and its supreme beauty. To get the opportunity to see it up close is an amazing privilege, one which I am counting down the days for.
