Celebrity get the look featuring Kate Middleton, Jennifer Lawrence and Freida Pinto

After the excitement and high glamour of the Golden Globe awards, it’s time to look at some more celebrity looks that can be achieved by shopping the High Street. Some of the looks featured are my interpretations of great style, from Hollywood stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Freida Pinto. Other looks are actually the real thing, to be found in store and online right now.

First up is the Duchess of Cambridge. That painting that was unveiled last week sure is awful, but Kate’s French Connection blouse is anything but. Unfortunately, the sale item has almost sold out in every colour. However, there are a few left in white, which I think is a very versatile option that could look amazing with cigarette pants.

LK Bennett have relaunched those perfect nude heels, the Sledge, an absolute confirmed favourite of the Duchess, and the perfect neutral shoe. I so need a pair of these in my life!

Next up is that lovely X Factor star Ella Henderson, who tweeted a very sweet picture of herself wearing a great dress from In Love with Fashion. Ella is wearing the black version, but this dress also comes in this season’s hot OxBlood Shade.

Another longstanding Love fan is Una Healy. The Saturdays singer is currently enjoying the sun in the US and so can get away with this playsuit, but I think this would look fab with some chunky opaque tights and a studded shoe boot. Alternately, you can just wait for some warm weather to hit the UK. (Sigh).

Freida Pinto always makes interesting choices, and I think she looked just fabulous in this flouncy monochrome mini dress. Dorothy Perkins have this design which I think is a great alternative to Freida’s look.

At a Pre Golden Globes party, Jennifer Lawrence showed why she has been named on of the most beautiful women in the world recently. Wearing a cornflower blue dress that I believe is a Victoria Beckham design, Jennifer just sizzled. You can get a similar look from Very in a lovely dress from the Mylene Klass collection.

And finally, also at the same event, the very lovely Amy Adams showed that she is no slouch in the style department in a sophisticated green shift style dress from Herve Le Laroux. You can get a similar style in the current Reiss sale, a total bargain for £113.

‘Enchanted – The Show’ at The Bullring

I took my front row seat last Saturday to watch Enchanted and was blown away by a very grown up fairy tale. ‘Enchanted’ was the Bullring’s major contribution to this year’s Style Birmingham, and it was a truly stunning spectacle. A baroque fairytale filled with gothic glamour and acres of brocade, sparkle and lace, ‘Enchanted’ was a truly, well, enchanting show that showcased piece after beautiful piece from the major Bullring stores. And with the gorgeous Lydia Bright presenting, and some pretty amazing hair styles enhanced by a range of eye-catching lace wigs, this proved to be a show that will stay in the mind for a long time to come.

Lydia Bright, the standout style star from The Only Way is Essex, looked resplendent in a 1960s style embellished dress from Monsoon, and this set the scene for everything from Chanel style jackets to brocade trousers and tulle and chiffon skirts. Cos, French Connection, Monsoon and Reiss were just some of the retailers who featured in the show, and the styling was decidedly feminine, even masculine style outfits were given a girlie twist.  And as for the aforementioned hair. Just imagine if Amy Winehouse met Alice in Wonderland and you get the idea. The hair was just fabulous – a real talking point.

Full marks once again to Emma Roberts and the Bullring team for creating a magical experience which enchanted everyone who was able to view it.

Enchanted in pictures.

Style Icon of the month April – Emily Blunt

My choice for style icon for the month of April was a no-brainer. At a host of film premieres, and the Tribeca film festival, Emily Blunt just stood out from the sea of bodycon, micro-minied lovelies in a style that is almost a cross between that of Kate Middleton and Grace Kelly. With an exquisite collection of ladylike, calf length shift and prom style dresses.

Unlike Kate Middleton though, Emily knows her designers. From red lace from Michael Kors, to my favourite, the wonderful yellow dress from Elie Saab, Emily has worn clothes with serious designer credentials. These are clothes that flatter her figure and body shape, whilst showing her stunning, natural beauty to its best advantage.

Here are Emily’s standout looks from April, with some ideas on how to get a similar look.
