TK MAXX OPENS IN WEDNESBURY.
A look back at the opening of TK Maxx at The Gallagher Retail Park in Wednesbury in 2010. Fashionista’s of Wednesbury rejoice! You have a new fashion emporium on your doorstep. Today was the day of the grand opening of the new TK MAXX store on the Gallagher Retail Park, and Fashion Mommy was invited along to take a look. There was already a long queue of eager fashionista’s waiting for the store to open when Fashion-Mommy arrived. They had been lured with the promise of a free goodie bag for the first 500 lucky customers through the doors, along with a £10 gift voucher to spend in store. Lots…

Celebrity get the look featuring Kate Middleton, Jennifer Lawrence and Freida Pinto
After the excitement and high glamour of the Golden Globe awards, it’s time to look at some more celebrity looks that can be achieved by shopping the High Street. Some of the looks featured are my interpretations of great style, from Hollywood stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Freida Pinto. Other looks are actually the real thing, to be found in store and online right now. First up is the Duchess of Cambridge. That painting that was unveiled last week sure is awful, but Kate’s French Connection blouse is anything but. Unfortunately, the sale item has almost sold out in every colour. However, there are a few left in…

‘Enchanted – The Show’ at The Bullring
I took my front row seat last Saturday to watch Enchanted and was blown away by a very grown up fairy tale. ‘Enchanted’ was the Bullring’s major contribution to this year’s Style Birmingham, and it was a truly stunning spectacle. A baroque fairytale filled with gothic glamour and acres of brocade, sparkle and lace, ‘Enchanted’ was a truly, well, enchanting show that showcased piece after beautiful piece from the major Bullring stores. And with the gorgeous Lydia Bright presenting, and some pretty amazing hair styles enhanced by a range of eye-catching lace wigs, this proved to be a show that will stay in the mind for a long time to…

Style Icon of the month April – Emily Blunt
My choice for style icon for the month of April was a no-brainer. At a host of film premieres, and the Tribeca film festival, Emily Blunt just stood out from the sea of bodycon, micro-minied lovelies in a style that is almost a cross between that of Kate Middleton and Grace Kelly. With an exquisite collection of ladylike, calf length shift and prom style dresses. Unlike Kate Middleton though, Emily knows her designers. From red lace from Michael Kors, to my favourite, the wonderful yellow dress from Elie Saab, Emily has worn clothes with serious designer credentials. These are clothes that flatter her figure and body shape, whilst showing her…

More ways to get that Middleton look
Whilst Kate seems to be having a break after a flurry of High profile appearances, her influence on British fashion continues to flourish. I spend lots of time trawling the internet looking at new collections from High Street and Web-based companies, and seem to spend an awful lot of time saying ‘that looks like something the Duchess of Cambridge has worn’. With Kate’s impeccable taste now shown to be retail catnip, it is no wonder that so many companies are trying to harness some of the Kate Effect. George are just one retailer who have talked of the indirect Kate effect – when the Duchess was pictured wearing coral skinny…
