My love/hate for Rodarte.
I’m in love/hate for Rodarte. I really don’t know whether I love the designs, or hate them. At their most creative the Rodarte sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy conjure up designs that can be described as beautiful, ethereal, wispy, ghostlike, and truly stunning. You imagine tragic heroines like Ophelia, Juliet, Camille and Mimi from La Boheme experiencing glamorous suffering in Rodarte. Rodarte would’ve been the designers of choice for those lost generation divas Zelda Sayre and Lady Otterline Morrell. D W Griffiths would’ve used their costumes to clothe Lilian Gish in all those fab silent weepies like ‘The Wind’. Rodarte is truly beautiful… But then I get to thinking again…

Flower Power at Phase Eight
When it comes to floral prints and fashion, there is always a bit of a love/hate relationship. The print is undoubtedly popular, particularly when Summer comes around, a natural choice for weddings, race days and ladies days. But it also has the reputation for being a safe and staid choice – let’s face it, if we are talking about sexy or sophisticated, flowers may not be the first print that comes to mind. Cannes 2016 – Fave looks so far
Oh the glamour! The Cannes film festival has to be the most glorious confection of fashion that you will see anywhere. As someone who is a total glutton for fashion that is full of elegance and beauty, Cannes always ticks all the boxes. Quite simply put, Cannes if the film festival where movie stars are MOVIE STARS, in the retro, vintage, old Hollywood sense of the word. Add in stunning models and singers, and more yachts than you can shake a stick at, and the 69th annual Cannes film Festival has glitz and sparkle in abundance. This year Blake Lively is a strong contender for Queen of Cannes, wearing a…

Glastonbury – Will it be Wellies or Havaianas?
The crowds are already gathering, the tents are being pitched, and today, as is usual for Glastonbury in recent years, the rain has fallen. Because it seems that if there is one thing we can rely on in the UK, it is the weather not living up to its side of the bargain. Festivals are always at their best on balmy nights, but this is Britain, so it pays to be prepared. With all that in mind, it seems that when we think of festival footwear, we are split firmly into two camps. For those hot, sun-soaked days, the shoes of choice can be little more than a pair of…

Trend of the season – Louis Vuitton Checkerboard collection
It was a collection that I thought was cute on the catwalk (or escalators in actual fact), but wasn’t really sure who would wear it in real life. The answer proved to be ‘everybody!’. Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer collection for Louis Vuitton 2013 has proved to be one of the most popular collections ever in terms of celebrity patronage. Everyone, and I mean everyone, seems to have been spotted wearing at least one of the pieces from the range. The collection is an intoxicating mixture of 1960s geometric design and block colour. Think Pierre Cardin, Paco Rabanne and Peggy Moffat modelling and you get the general picture of what this collection…
